G4 dude, you seem to have a very strong opinion regarding unions. Why do you continue to be bullied at NJ? With you’re vast, and extensive list of credentials, and like-minded good’ol boy network in the corporate world. Surely you can find a better fit for your ideological needs.

I'm not being bullied, Nordo. We are just discussing stuff here on the board. The union people I have met in person so far have been fine. Things get a little testy here because passions are high, and the brokeflyers of the world are on the activist fringe. Life is good.

To be perfectly correct, it's not an open shop, it's an agency shop. BIG difference.

You can quit the union (no longer be a union member), but still have to pay an "agency fee" to NJASAP because we negotiate your work rules, pay, etc...

Basically if you choose to do that you lose your right to vote and hold office.

Or never join in the first place. Last number I heard was five former NJI that did not join the union and are "fee payers."

And one of them has retained a lawyer. Things should get "interesting" soon.
