I cant imagine any corp job would have you share rooms!!!

Only time I ever heard that $hit was regional jobs that have pilots do that in training.....sharing rooms at a Days Inn or something.......nice...

For the last time!!!

We don't share rooms!!!!! Forget EVERYTHING you've heard in the past about this position. It is completely different now. Please get more up to date information.

Gulfstream 200,

Don't take this the wrong way because usually your posts are accurate, but with this one you are way off. Again if you or anyone else would like to know more about this position PM me and I would be happy to help. As for the janitor part, who knows where this stuff comes from. I'm guessing from the likes of people like labbats. Your days off are exactly that, days off. While we're on that subject we have one of the more generous schedules in corporate aviation. Home 90% of the time by 5:30 PM, 2 RON/mo. I don't get where this hostility comes from. Gee whiz.

Skyypimp,

What else goes on at Wal-Mart? Our Aviation Department is a natural extension of our company, and I don't think we could consider ourselves separate. We mirror our company's business objectives in many ways, like any flight department should. That is why we exist. To sell more stuff. Just like P&G's flight department exists to help them sell more toothpaste, diapers, etc... Kodak's flight department helps them sell more film, cameras, etc... You get the picture.

re-read my post.

I said NO WAY Walmart would make pilots share rooms - and I think you clarified this?

How am I way off here?

And NO, I would also suspect one is not required to play Janitor either!! Im sure WaMart has no problem employing another $5/hr worker at the hangar.

And I never said it was bad job! - Lots of Stability there, and that says volumes! -- and if you like being home each night and a steady paycheck, it sounds like a good deal.

Kudos to the Waltons on a successful company (capatalist dream!) but I detest WalMarts - from thier uglya$$ stores, to the mindless souls who slave there for $5/hr, to the pathetic commercials where the poor lost minority woman who tells her WalMart success story.....puke.

Five multi-billionaires and a million slaves....and we in America say we think the Saudis are scumbags.....

G200,

My apologies, I mistook your post for Simon Says. As he's getting "bad vibes." I just wanted to clarify that and some other issues. Again, my apologies, everyone has a right to whatever opinion. I just like them to be backed up by some fact. Unfortunately, our department's image is clouded by many of the mistakes of the past that continue to be circulated for reasons I don't understand. I also respect your opinion of our stores (although I don't agree), you certainly have every right to shop elsewhere. It's called a free market economy.

Respectfully,
h25b

you are very right.

people simply want the cheapest possible. Good for Walmart - hance maybe you will have a job for a long time! - and thats a good thing in our business!

Do you guys get a chance to get checked out in the Global? Is that a senority thing?
Then again, if you like being home each night maybe thats not the equipment to be on...

Those who whine simply need not apply. If its a good job and you like then good for you and too bad for them, or maybe they never got called and are bitter..??

I usually am not so touch/defensive, however, our folks in charge of the hiring committee are a good bunch truely in search of the best candidates possible I think we'd hate to see quality individuals get chased away by some image that's being created by people that don't have clue.

As far as the Global, the domestic Learjet schedule is pretty hard to beat.

:)

domestic day trips...yuk. They always seemed like much harder work to me than the Intl. stuff..but sounds like you have your niche there.

eh, as far as flightinfo rumor mill -- If someone makes thier decision to apply or not from a web board made up of windbags you dont want them anyways!!!

I myself would think the hardest sell would be the Rogers location....and finding a candidate serious enough to take the relocation package.

Slight correction

My appologies h25b

Everyone out there has an opinion on WalMart it seems. My opinion is, What ever they are doing is working, The people that I have talked to seem very happy. What I ment to say in my earlier post was "To everyone out there who thinks poorly of WalMart, for what ever reason, Go ahead and think poorly. However, what they are doing IS working, and if I can become a part of that, and still do the job that I love doing then Yea!!! for me. Thats it. As far as the sweeping floors, You are right. There are just alot of miss informed people out there who do not take the time to learn what really goes on in a company's flight department. HOWEVER, I would not put it past the employee's there to help out in what ever way they can.

So to everyone else out there that wants to bash a company with out first looking into what they really do? Go ahead. The fact remains that WalMart is on top of thier Game. I would consider myself Lucky and blessed to become part of the team. It will be nice to finally fly people who are greatful for the service you provide, and not get up set with you when you cant make it to your destination when the weather turns ugly.

As far as the comment about the aviation side being different, It is different from the average person working the floor at WalMart. But the floor position is different from the cashier's position. Different job titles require different tasks to be performed. As far as I know you don't have to sweep the floors on your day off. There exists a PRIDE amongst the employees there that does not exist in Part 121 flying. My friend that works there is very happy to be doing the job that he does for WalMart.

I look forward to the interview tomorrow and I am very excited with this opportunity. h25b, You are exactly right, The flight schedule is great there. WalMart would be a company that I could retire from one day.

What Can I say h25b, it just did not come out the way I ment it the first time.

Wannab.....

GL man .. I Hope that we both get the position and get to meet one day. From what I understand, they are hiring POSSIBLY 3 people. but that is just what I have heard, and have nothing to back that up.

Is it still true that Wallmart does not provide insurance coverage for their pilots as part of the wage and benefits package.

I've been told that Wallmart pilots pay for their own insurance coverage.

Just Curious....

Wannabe,

The phone interview will most likely be a few general questions about your experience. Most likely followed by an offer to interview. Wal*Mart has a great flight department with one of the best schedules in the industry. N.W. Arkansas can be a bit of a challenge depending on what part of the country you're used to living. But cost of living is low, crime rate is low, and some beautiful lakes surround the area. Some very talented people on staff.

All an all a good deal.

h25b,

Easy buddy, you would think that I am talking about your mom or something. I was just asking. I have heard, at least in the past you guys shacked up together. Don't be so defensive. Remember this is Flightinfo.com we are chating on. There have been much worse things said on this board.

OH by the way, do you wear those blue walmart vests while you fly. You know the ones where employees are encouraged to put buttons all over them. I think I would where a button that says "Will Fly For Walmart Products".
