Question VG's under horizontal stabilizer?

I've heard of VG's under the horizontal stab (aft edge) as some have asked about doing it and I don't know many that have but all of the sudden I'm seeing several FX-3's with them. No, I don't plan to put them on mine, I'm just curious. For anyone that's added them, i.e. gone from not having them to adding them, what difference have you experienced? What would a plane such as a Carbon Cub FX-3 gain from adding them?

I normally do not trim for landing, as I have gotten used to feeling the pressure on the stick. This works fine for power idle landing but if I am trying to land short with power (“behind the power curve”), I will run out of elevator with the stick fully back. If I trim out on approach, then I do not tend to run out of elevator.

I would guess that placing VGs on the bottom of the elevator, is all to try and get further behind the power curve on landing…
