Questions from someone waiting for an interview. All assuming no merger, company remains profitable, and no age 65 consideration, and the pilot integration takes forever to happen. No flaming please, just objective answers and/or best guesses.

1. If newhires fly the 190 out of PHL, will they follow the east contract and payrates? Once they transition to another aircraft, is their pay and contract based on their domicile? And if so, do you switch payrate/contract rules each time you switch domiciles?

As of now, all 190 flying is done under the East contract. If this is what you get, you will be under the East contract until integration. If you switch aircraft, you will still be under the East contract at East bases until the integration.

2. What is the attrition rate each year? Are we talking a couple hundred per year for the next 5-10 years? Will a pilot in his early 40's ever have a decent left seat schedule, or can he bank on reserve left seat as his ultimate goal?

The East side has a very high attrition rate. In the hundreds for many years to come. The left seat in the 190 should be possible in a few years, the water becomes a little more cloudy in the bigger aircraft. If you're in your 40's, you should easily see the left seat of the 737 or airbus, as far as something bigger, reserve may be all you can hope for. Of course this could all change tomorrow...

3. Can a pilot expect upgrade in less than 10 years?

On the 190, yes. The others, too many variables...
 
Isn't a new hire an apprentice and can't vote on anything for a year anyway? Do they have an ALPA yea or nea box on the indoc base bids sheet passed around on day one?

That's only for internal union issues. The NMB recognizes any pilot that's employed on the cutoff date to be eligible to vote, even if they're on probation.
