New permanent bid came out Fri. (don't think it's been posted) but listed within the bid is an additional 165 recalls. I imagine these are on top of the positions they are still trying to fill. Bid effective Nov 07.

Not sure how far up the list they have gotten on the take it or leave it calls. I do know there a 6/99 individual starting on the 20th, and he's #3 or 2 in class, but the last I heard there were only 8 slated to be in the class on 8/20. I would imagine that this next recall would kill the list.

A 10% acceptance rate followed by only half of those showing up for class. So your right, doing the math would mean over 1600 recalls just to fill the 165 needed. Like I said at the beginning of the year, we'll be hiring before year's end.

From what I heard, the poop letters made it up to the end of March 99..
Yeah, he is 3of 8 and I am 5 of 8. We will see how that plays out in 1 week....

Is there an Aug 27th class? I thought that was the date for my recall, now I can't remember. Hired on 2 Aug 99.

Yep, there is a 8/27 class. I believe that the 8/20 class was thrown together because of the high no-show rate. Charmane offered me the 8/27 class and the possibilty of attending the 8/20 class.

I sent Charmane an email stating that I couldn't accept recall at the present time. Guess I'm off the list.

I see you flew both Dash 7's and Dash 8's. Are you a former Henson pilot?

Not to bright and maybe a dumb question, but at the last PHX Crew news session, Lyle was asked about East final recalls. I thougth he said that they still had to go throught the list 2 or 3 more times.

Did I hear wrong, or is it that the acceptance rate is so low that they don't expect to fill the slots, that everyone is speculating hiring by year end.

Just trying to gain insight.

Me too. It simply came down to this for me:

More money

vs.

More time at home w/ family and less stress

Somehow I managed to fight off the greed. I think this will finish off the list and they'll be accepting apps very, very soon.

Congratulations on your decision ,Swaayze. You made the right call,one that I wish I made 10 years ago when I was wrestling with that same decision. Your family should be proud of you. Cheers!!

Recieved a letter today, I wasn't home. I had a friend sign for it and read it to me. the basics were;

165 recalls to east
20 recalls to west...you can bypass the west positions
training to start around oct.

I haven't seen the letter myself, so when I read it if anything is diffrent I'll post.

Thanks guys, it was a very tough decision to make. I hope everything settles down over there and both sides can coexist peacefully. Heck I may even re-apply in a dozen years when the kids go off to college.

Interesting about the deferral capability to the West. I guess the company is trying to avoid any ill will in the cockpit. Good for them I guess.

Best of luck to y'all.

You,too my man!! And with regards to your career,remember what Yogi Berra used to say;
"It ain't over 'til it's over!";) Enjoy the munchkins!!

Company isn't trying to avoid any ill will. I believe the filling of west positions is spelled out in the Transition agreement. Any West vacancies will be offered to East furloughed, with no jeopardy. There were rumored to be some this year, but they never surfaced. If you choose the west position you will go with longevity and such for vacation/pay etc I believe, but you are at the bottom for bidding etc....which well with the seniority thing as it is....it's where all of us are at this point anyways.

So, no, not any wise choosing by the company, just them doing what they are supposed to for a change.

so if a furloughed east pilot accepts a recall to the west do they have to work under LOA 93 or do they get the increased pay/workrules/ and vacation of the West contract? At least it will be parity for 20 or so guys/gals...

Yeah, but he or she will have to change our diapers and give us dual instruction since we are such young and inexperienced pilots...

they will work under the west contract. And I believe nannies will be provided for to do the diaper changing. Enjoy!!!!! (swedish ones at that)

Does anyone know how high up the last take it or leave it letters went? On the same theme, how many are still on the furlough list?

I got a letter about the 165 positions two days ago and it said I could bypass until they came to me in reverse order. I got another letter today, Friday saying they have exhausted the list and take it or leave it. I am a Jan. 4th, 1999 hire, just under the lawsuit and shuttle people. I find it very hard to believe that they exhausted the list in two days. Has anyone else received this letter. It is for a September 17th class.
