800Dog,
Here is the thing. Most don't get it and I want to get across everyone the very real of the situation. I realize that after seeing the earnings announcement of half a billion dollars that everyone says well go and get my money. I want nothing mre than to get that money TRUST ME!! but there is a cost to everything and there comes a point where you can be priced out of the market. I never saw this being a line pilot and I highly suggest every pilot on every property getting involved in the union process and learn just what goes on on a daily basis. Far too many just want to fly there trips and go home. This process is extremely involved and much much more goes on and it's far more complicated then I can go on in this forum. I strongly urge all to really get involved...
Now that's all I am going to say about that. (forrest gump)

here is your negotiating motto. every employee should adopt this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmjdoc7BLlA
Sure it is up to us but to decide or not and I have a feeling that what you guys are shooting for vs the expectaions of this pilot group will end up with 51% of the pilot group voting yes.
I believe the reserves over there get 14 or 15 days off per month while line holders seem to average around 18.
They have profit sharing as well as stock options.
I don´t believe our insurance is head and shoulders better than SWA.
Sure they are productive but if I hear another AWA captain tell me that ´I would never want to work at SWA because they work too hard´ while we are in the middle of a redeye to EWR for the 5th time that month I´m going to puke!
We at AWA work as hard as anyone...period! Parker and his minions make more than anybody at SWA.
Us East and America West are the two worst contracts by far in the industry. Us East because of two bankruptcies and America West because I guess their pilots don’t think they are worth anything. I have seen your proposals and they are just a touch better then the contracts at Delta a carrier in bankruptcy. Your airline might be the only one where bankruptcy leading contracts are cheered for. I hope the East guys stand up for themselves because history has shown the West wont! I sure hope AMR, CAL, and well I know most everyone over here at ALK wont settle.
Got a proposal for you. How about you come down to PHX on the 1st of Feb., that's this Thursday, and picket with us. We are all ALPA bretheren and we could use your support. It starts at 11:30am. Unless you want to show uup and support your fellow ALPA pilots at AWA/US then shut the he!! up. Nobody has any right to bitch unless they get involved! Period!
Andy
P.S. I do agree with you that the west could use some more spine. Okay a lot more spine...
Well since I am here at the MEC office today and I am in conf with the Neg committee I think that I may in fact be in a little better position info wise than you right now. Now with that said if you are in PHX today, come by the pizza lunch and lets talk!!!

America West would have been better off without this merger. This merger is a disgrace for all employess and America West.
Yeah, I agree. AWA could have made this $507 million all by itself. That East stuff just drags them down......
Well, I don't have a dog in this fight, as I don't work for either side (AWA or East, whatever).
However, You are either, "blind, stupid or just can't read," as the numbers that were made public (filed with the SEC), show that "Over 2/3 of the total revenue the company (LCC) generated, came from the old "US Airways" system (division) of the company; and the same for the 'net.'
So, I sorry, but "who" drags 'what' down???
Go back and read the financial reports for 'Your' own company and then let me know.
Bye
I would love to have a major increase in pay rate but, I don't want to fly 8 legs a day to get it. Our (AWA) contract now as a whole is not that bad not withstanding the pay rates. Sometimes the grass is not that GREEN on the otherside.

I would MUCH rather fly 8 legs during the daylight with 18 days off, make 125hr as an fo or 190CA, get stock options, about 10grand per year in profit sharing, etc. Now i´m sure someone will say if you like it so much then go work for SWA but I´m trying to point out that the company CAN afford much more. You get what you negotiate!
Whiskey-
Come on man you´re smarter than that aren´t you? you are playing right into the company´s hand. They let you into their little club, buy you dinner, tell you they´d love to pay us more but they just can´t afford it in todays industry, blahblahbalbha. Then they throw some numbers your way and pull the wool over your head. Give me a break. You, Whiskey driver, are NOT a finance major. Numbers can be made to show anything the author wants. When talking to the press Parker claimed he could easily finance a few billion more in debt due to our current high revenues. He has money. He just doesn´t want to spend it on us if he doesn´t have to. Stop playing buddy buddy with management and falling for their old BS and negotiate an industry leading contract. 20% less than our competitiors with crappy work rules and minimal staffing is not industry leading.
The one thing that bothers me about our negotiations is that we talk big and carry a small stick. We claim we are going for industry leading this or that but when the details come out it always falls short. If we don´t want an industry leading contract or you don´t believe we can get one then don´t claim that´s what we are after.
Again I think our JNC is way out of their league in dealing with Parker and Glass.
Minor thread hijack:
Can we please just retire the old stereotype of "those SWA guys flying eight legs a day?" Virtually no lines outside of DAL & HOU do that anymore...and it's becoming increasingly rare for them too. How about we replace it with "those SWA guys blocking eight hours of flying a day" (and don't forget to include that we do it in about a ten hour duty day).
Now back to your regularly scheduled banter....
