For those interested the on-line pilot application will be available soon.

I checked their website and it has a pilot position window but it doesn't show the application yet. Stay tuned.

What kind of Masochistic psycho would want to work for Airways? One could make more money, with more job security, catching stray dogs for the local County.

Just ask ANY pilot hired on the EAST in the last 23 YEARS.

If you found ONE recommending the job i'd be shocked.

Just remember, boys and girls, that there will be a lot of attrition over the next decade....

BUT, Doug's only business plan is to "shrink to profitability"

You've been warned!

:smash:

Apply and see if you can get a West position once all the furloughees are back. Guaranteed A320 or 757 seat. Great group of pilots to fly with. Based in Phoenix. Pay isn't great but the work rules are better than most, even on reserve.

or get on the East and get to fly with MCDU and hear about his 5 mergers, the strong brand name of US Airways, and his superior piloting skills brought to him by his DOH. Ride the massive attrition wave and be a 330 Captain in 3-5 years.

First off I bet they will get thousands of apps on the first day. Second the hiring will be East 190 only. One of my four recs is from someone who IS in the know. Enough of the furloughed guys took the offer to go west (20K more for the bus vs. the Emb.) to fill all west slots. I would be honored to join U.S. Airways. There is a link for the pilot application on the job site. I only get some engineering job in PIT. Anyone have luck beyond that for a pilot job.

The link that you clicked on that resulted in the engineering job is where the pilot job will be when they finally post it, as of now the pilot job has not been posted.

I think it the opposite of what you said - West guys ended up taking East 190 slots because there were not enough West positions available. There are still West and East guys awaiting recall, but everyone has been offered and bypassed the 190.

Best of luck to you, if you really want it I hope it works out for you. One thing that is worrysome is rising oil costs. Hopefully you have some cash saved up just in case. Once on line get 500 hrs in type as soon as possible, which seems to be the magic number for contracts. I was reserve the whole time on the 190 and after a whole year I had less than 500 hrs on type, hence my inability to get a contract job.

Nope. I may have been unclear. Enough of the furloughed guys who had previously declined to go East opted to go West and filled all West slots. All new hires will go East.

Thank you for wishing me luck.

Honestly Beckett -

Not trying to be insulting - and I agree there is always something better - but if you hate it so much - don't let the door hit you on the way out - but please be polite enough to hold it open for someone who would like the job.

Perhaps this is what happened to the latest 20 west slots that have yet to start training. The first 40 slots were filled by furloughed west pilots and were never offered an east slot.

I don't work for your ******************** bag outfit amigo.

Grass is always greener or course. Lots of pilots without a job at all. USAir, assuming it holds together, is still better than starting at a regional and my magic 8 ball says expect left seat in 10 years, which you (probably) won't get at any other major. New Hires, if they decide to take the chance on Airways, aren't bringing with them any baggage and East/West animosity, and probably don't want to hear about it.

Incidentally, it's been said on another thread but there is already a new hire class, January 3rd. All poolies that originally interviewed in 2008, all for the E190 in PHL.

I see those remaining 10 E-190s Gone very soon.

But as someone else stated if US Airways stays together and in business you could see faster movement to the left seat then many majors.
Don't forget about the 20 something A-350s Wide Bodies for 2015.

The 350s won't be here till 2017. 8 more 330s by 2012 for growth, plus 25 or so 320 family to replace the 737s.

And to clarify the recall situation: everyone east and west have been offered recall. The last two classes had west pilots accepting east PHL 190 positions. All new hires will be going to PHL 190.

for guys returning or being hired to the 190 please request extra IOE so they can keep buying my trips. 3 bought trips in the past 30 or so days keep it rolling. I have some very fine 4 day shuttle flying in Jan that makes perfect multi-leg IOE - Learlove wants to do some skiing (even if it is only the Poconos)
