The Gucci dude sounds like a complete idiot. First, never pack anything expensive in luggage that will be flown commercially. Huge mistake. There are plenty of baggage-handling THUGS who will poach it. That's common sense. Second, don't trust USAirways to get your luggage to you on time (or to you at all). More great PR for USAirways...

If you can afford a pricey bag like that, you can charter a jet (or even a Cirrus). Quit being a dumba$$...

The consumer expecting to have the service he or she paid for is the dumb ass???? it is common sense that your luggage will be handled by thugs??? It is amazing as to how low the expectations of what "airline service" is all about has dropped here in the US. when it is considered common sense that your luggage has a high possibility of being poached and handled by individuals with questionable ethics because after all, it is common knowledge that this is what the airlines hire.

Thank you, USAir. I'm sure the Netjets Europe fleet can handle the additional business.

First off, the guy is a billionaire, why is he slumming it on an airliner when he should have taken a private jet. Second, would YOU give a bag with $50,000 cash or equivalent to anyone? HELL NO! That's just plain common sense. Of course the bag will be pilfered by some of the trash lurking around the ramp at any major airport. Just stating an obvious fact. It does reflect poorly on our industry, but it is absolutely a fact of life these days.

No, that would be the Samsonite gorilla baggage handler that stole it. How long before the investigation finds the idiot?

Billionaires fly on airlines all the time all over the world and flying on first class on brand airlines is not what I would call "slumming it", we transport valuables all the time. You are stating that it is "common sense" that airlines are populated by thugs and criminals amongst its workforce, that is a very sad view of the state of the industry in the US if indeed your interpretation is correct

It is absolutely mind numbing how bad US airlines are, especially when compared to many fine foreign carriers. But hey, the executives get their million dollar bonuses no matter how bad things get, so things will not improve anytime in the near future. Again, a very sad commentary on American business culture in general. What other country rewards people with millions of dollars for being nothing more than spectacular failures?
