Well I would say it would depend on who would be acquiring. Seems as though neither HP nor US has the money for this, so it will be a third party putting up the cash. With reports that US needs to find additional money, what money is HP coming to the table with? Haven't looked at any of the financials so how much $$$ does HP have??? troubled waters ahead....

No lie there. Those nit noids are still fighting the Battle of the Goobers and the Rustheads.. (Piedmont/USAir).... Man, what a horror that will be if it ever comes to pass!

Look for MESA to be involved in this somehow..I would bet they would put up some cash..Going to be interesting...

Baby Cakes--Fine. Start 25% down from the top of AWA's list and go 1 for 9 and staple everyone after the last guy hired at AWA three months after the deal is announced. THEN, furlough till you get down to the original size of AWA prior to the acquisition.TC

... ALL pre-1990 TWA captains got slid into the American seniority list as captains.
That's a misleading statement because their assigned seniority number was insufficient to hold an AA captain position. It was only within the STL fence that they remained captains.

AADriver....try it the other way around... You must've really gotten screwed somewhere...

And FD I understand that and read that correctly , was just replying to AAdrivr I think...........

please don't tell me the new-hires were sent home.
I know this is the Internet but just because somebody writes something doesn't make it so. Hiring at AWA continues at a slow rate. Can we put this to rest already?

Us West

You people are scaring me. I like flying the 737 for AWA. Oh well at least I won't have to commute anymore. Best of luck to both sides if this rumor comes true.

Bet you wish you'd paid more attention to what was happening with the TWA merger, huh? :D TC

One point: Because AA was not an ALPA carrier, ALPA merger and fragmentation policy did not apply in the TWA merger as it would in an HP/US merger.

I think that this is bad for everyone. I don't know how this could make things better at AWA unless they are buying into the liquidation of US Air. This doesn't make sense.

Thanks for the info. You can also "inform" us that the Pope is Catholic for those of us who don't know. BTW, ALPA merger and fragmentation policy didn't do Ozark or the new Allegheny any good due to external forces. Not that I'm in favor of it but it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't get used in a HP/US merger either.

It might have made sense prior to Sept 11th. Common fleet types, strong east coast presence for them, strong west coast presence for us,very little route overlap. But nooo, they were too busy sniffin' around United. I hate to say it,but I think you will see this go through. GECAS and the Bush staffed ATSB board are going to see to it for no other reason than to cut down their risk exposure. The end result? An aeronautical version of AMTRAK.....

Hey, now the AWA guys can EVENTUALLY fly widebodies to Europe. (eventually)

I know, I know..... Mergers do look like the "wave of the future" for some of us, though.....

And, you may like flying to Europe---it beats ELP in the Summer!

I would hope that if this "Merger" does come to pass that the PHL/CLT to Europe flying would remain with current PHL/CLT based Airways A330/B767 pilots. They bring it to the table, they should be able to keep it.

IF this happens, lets hope that the powers that be in Tempe learned something from all the mistakes and errors in the AA/TWA disaster. Stealing equipment and flying from one Pilot/FA group and assigning it to another just creates great canyons of hate and resentment. (Kind of like Deadheading DFW F/As and Pilots into STL to fly to OGG and HNL.... yeah, that umm.. that makes sense...)

IF this happens, it will take every employee working hard to make it work. Give it the TW/AA bitterness and squabbling and the combined carrier is toast.

Kind of like deadheading STL pilots to ORD and DFW to fly HNL and SJU.... yeah...that also makes sense.

Give it a rest dude.

STL pilots and F/As flew active DFW-HNL trips??? If that ever happened, I would be the first to retract the statement. But you know it only happened in reverse to screw the TW guys and girls. Fact.
