Interestingly, Parker has been reported (in the WSJ, actually) to enjoy going to Las Vegas to gamble.

I find that very un-reassuring.

True gamblers enjoy placing the bet more than they enjoy winning, which would not be in the best interest of the workers who's livlihoods are the chips being bet.

I know of at least 2 former AWA folks at FedEx. I wish no ill towards any of the nice folks at US Air, but US Air management has proven to be an cancer on airline good will, employee relations, and captial funding companies. The fact they are still in business is shocking to me, but then again I long ago claimed not to be that insightful on the business side of the house.

FWIW...If I were flying for AWA I'd still be sending out apps now before the rush. You guys didn't ask for the merger, and its not your fault, but if history is any indicator nothing good is in your future in this new conglomeration. With SWA, JetBlue, FedEX, UPS, and Continental hiring I'd at least throw a few lines in the water and see what happens.
