I talked to an hr person today and they said that rejection letters go out almost immediately, so if you interviewed and haven't heard anything in the first few weeks theoretically you should be good.

good luck.

Does anybody know if this is still the way they do it? Or is it still possible to get a rejection letter after the first few weeks? I'm going on 2 weeks now and no letter yet...

Well......

Its still a puzzle how they do things, but here is my best stab at it....

If you interview and they really don't like you....... then you get the ding letter withing a week. (For example.... a furloughed Delta buddy interviewed and they asked if he'd be willing to resign.... the idiot hesitated and well.... his letter was dated the next day and got it within 5 days of his interview)

If they interview you and they don't know if they like you........ then you get the ding letter in about 4 weeks.

If they interview you and they like you...... then you get a letter saying your in the pool and THAT is another thread all by its self.

And finally If they interview you and they like you alot........ then you get a call 4 to 6 weeks after your interview getting a conditional offer with a class date, pending your medical. <-----You'll know this because they'll be doing the back ground check on you and if you marked the....send me a copy box... you'll be glad to know your gonna get an offer, just be patient.

There are a few numbers floating around about how many pilots UPS is going to hire......I have heard 700 to 1200. Any Brown Uniforms out there wanna comment on the rumored numbers?

Good luck to all that are applying

That's the best description of UPS's schizophrenic, disorganized, and regrettably unprofessional pilot HR department that I have ever read. As a UPS pilot I am embarrassed (but sadly not surprised) at the poor manner in which pilot applicants are treated by this company.

As far as numbers of new hires ... I'd guess 700-1000 over then next 3-4 years ... based on retirements, new aircraft, intl expansion. Training can only handle about 250 new hires per year ... heard the last 50 of the 300 are actually 1/06 classes. BigBrownDC8 probably knows more ... think he works in the training center.

Good luck to all!

A friend of mine is in the March 28 class of 5 747 FE's. The bottom person in that class was #109 of the 300 people they are supposed to hire this year. I interviewed March 1 and still haven't heard anything. He talked to someone in HR, last name of Donahue?, that said they are a little behind because one of the people that review the applicant files was on vacation. I also called Paige last Thursday since it had been over a month since I had interviewed. She could not locate my file and said since she couldn't find it it meant that my file was under review at that time and that I should hear within a week. I'm still hoping and praying!

I just got the word that the april 6th class has 13 guys in it. Straight into the FO seat for the 757/767 domestic..... don't know about any other types.

109 hired up to date with the 5 747 FE's hires on March 28th. Again..last numbers I heard were...700-1200.... hope its closer to 1200. Anyone in here in the April 6th class???????

actually the April 6th is all 757 half domestic half international. April 20th class @ 4 Airbus FOs, couple of 727 FOs and the rest DC8 and 727 FEs for a toal of 20 in that class. Official numbers for now is still 300. Looks like the next one after that may be May 9th at least 5 747 FEs in that one.

Could anyone please tell me how to get more of a spotlight on myself @ UPS to get an interview? +5000 tt, +2000 PIC, applied on-line within the first month it was available (10/06/04) and no calls. Unfortunately, I do not have any connections w/ any UPS pilots.
Also, how long would it take to hold MIA base? Thanks

Good Luck if you don't know anyone. I would show my face at every AirInc. conference. If you don't know anyone I really think that is the only way.

Really? Is that the only way to get an interview??? You must know someone and/or rub elbows at the $300.00 airinc conferences?
Thats a bummer, but I guess if that is what has to be done, then so be it.
Thanks

Pilottodd2,

Not sure what to say, other than I would just keep updating your app each month.

I read you don't have any connections with UPS pilots. How about anybody at the company? Even knowing a driver could be of help to you, he might know a supervisor or manager with some pull. Not necesarrily saying it would help, but I woud give it a shot if the option is there.

What have guys said about the AirInc shows? I've been out of the loop for a while, and I know the last time they hired this seemed to help a few.

As far as MIA, not real sure. I think it still goes somewhat junior.

So if you go to the Air Inc. conference that may open the door for someone that does not know any UPS pilot?

Can anyone attest to this?

My wife is in the 6 Apr class, she was told that she will be domestic 757 because she is 2nd to youngest, I guess they let the older folks have first choice.

Bones,

You're absolutely correct. Seniority numbers are given based on DOB. The oldest is the most senior in the class and the youngest is the most junior.

Speaking of which...What is the typical older and younger newhire ages?

What is your wife's age? (Can I ask that?)

Pilittodd,

FWIW, I was hired 5 years ago. Ages ranged from 27 (youngest) to around 44 (oldest) give or take a year.

>>>Don't worry about the background check. They called me with a class date BEFORE they called my last THREE 121 employers.

I have a friend who did not have a choice of training slots even though he was not the youngest in the class. He said everyone in his class that had their FE ticket were assigned to the DC8. They did not have a choice.
