I agree with you Fairview!
Fear not! Attitudes like that sometimes are detected in initial training and IOE. It wouldn't be the first time some jackass who hasn't even started collecting a paycheck somewhere shoots himself down with his big mouth.
Hey Brown Guys! Warning here! Is this what you really want to hire?
He will undoubtedly be an embarasment to your company somewhere down the line.

The funny thing is - if he is legit he has outed himself judging by his previous posts and if he's not - nice flame. Here we go:

He interviewed at World 9/16/03
He got called by WOA 10/08/03 for a DC-10 FE class.
He failed a mgt pilot interview at UPS in Aug.05
He got the call on 3/26/07 for a UPS class where he was told;
He starts in a class on 4/23/07 for the MD-11.

P.S. Karma keeps it real.

Good. Guess their thinking of us who came from ACMI carriers who would love to only be on an INTL trip for 12 days instead of the 18-20 we're used to, IMHO.

p.s. to all you SJS boys, go out and get a real job now and really learn how to fly. Sorry, you can't buy that experience now matter how hard you try. 63 countires in 3.5 years on 5 of the 7 continents. Now thats fun. And yes you can get a Heinken and Budweiser in all but 2 unless you wnat to go to jail. Spent plenty of time in Betty Ford East(Kuwait and Saudi)

hey pu$$ywhipped,
while you were in "Betty Ford East" you should have opened a book and figured out the difference between "flying" and NAVIGATING. That is what transoceanic flight is all about. Also, I must comment on how cocky and arrogant you are. I bet you are the guy who loudly proclaims to everygirl you meet "Yes sugarbritches, I AM A PILOT." Trust me, I have been around this business since I was born... you are only lucky to have the job you just got and you will be lucky everyday that you keep it. That is life. Don't take it for granted and don't think that you really have "touched the face of God" just because you fly airplanes.

Outstanding!

What?????? Are you joking or just a tool?

They shut out a TON of people! You have to get your experience somewhere for Christ's sake! I didn't have crossing experience when I got hired. It's not rocket science. Overwater training was the easiest training I've ever done. I understand UPS preferring that type of experience for ANC, but to shut out all regional guys, SWA, Jetblue, Airtran, any legacy domestic guys, the list goes on is crazy. I could see it saying it is preferred but REQUIRED???? That's insane IMO.

Not for nothing, but I believe that the possibility is very real that a quick upgrade can happen in the ANC base, and they want people who will be able to do it right out of the gate. I've been jumpseating quite a bit, and this is the skinny I am gettin. Not agreeing or disagreeing with it. It just is what it is. I could also be wrong.

Application

Hey what does it mean when it says "Your appication does not need attention at this time"?

I have heavy jet international experience. B747, 757, DC8. UPS has NOT called me well, Yet!

Thanks for any insight.

Patience, Grasshopper.
The ball is now in their court. Go out and cut the grass and do all the things that you normaly would do. Something tells me that when things get rolling, you might not have the free time that you now do.
Good Luck to you.

I suspect this is an HR thing, although Flight Ops probably had some input as well. But it probably isn't any more caprecious than Southwest's old policy whereby a person with a half-dozen type-ratings still had to have one in a 737 to get an interview, or FedEx's insistance on a four-year degree.

For all you guys (and gals) that have been bustin' your a$$es waiting for a chance to be invited to step beyond UPS's "velvet rope"...man, I feel for ya.

Stay in the game guys, this too shall pass...

Dan, I find myself agreeing with you again. While I personally feel after flying with some great guys just off IOE they still had a lot to learn (who didn't huh?) But good folks who would definitely figure it all out.

I somewhat understand HR wanting to hire folks who have experience in the type of flying they will be doing at UPS it seems making trans oceanic time required will eliminate some good folks. Why doesn't UPS take their applications and decide on a more individual basis?
