Your right about the time. It seems that the last time I read his post he only had 1500 hours, now he has 2500 hours. Either way it's going to be tough unless it's all PIC jet time. But you never know. Best of luck Rhoid. Everyone deserves a chance.

Thanks CW, I just updated my profile, I've been flying PIC on the Learjet and have my 1000hrs PIC in it. I hope to get an interview soon.

Your flame at me will not make you rise in the eyes of those you perceive may help in your quest for a big jet job...No "professional" pilot would recommend someone he's never met, let alone never flown with... Your post proves you know nothing of the events that transpired. This pilot group you malign has received commendations from the FAA and DOD for airmanship. This is a tight knit industry, to try to rise by stepping on another's back is a recipe for failure.

Your moniker speaks volumes about your character.

Wow, step back and take a breather. I am pretty sure that FDF's profile was a bit tongue in cheek. I would relax on him. Unless you personally worked there and know first hand what went down, you're just going to be showing everyone your a$$. Sorry to interrupt the FDX/UPS thread, hijack over.

So far, you've managed to disparage 4 pilot groups- EWA, CAT, Capitol and RAI...
It might interest you to know that more than a few of those "Yip cowboys" fly at UPS, and are quite senior. I've read some posts here by the chief pilot of USA Jet, and he seems like a pretty sharp fellow. You don't seem like the type who takes advice, so I'll end this discourse by wishing you the best in your future, in whatever career you may choose.

If they want a job at UPS, they will have to apply like the rest of us!

I bet the EWA pilots were not threatening legal action against the bottom feeder contractors that took over the DAY flying, trying to get on their lists! Hey Fred, why didn't you threaten to sue them? I find it awfully interesting that the EWA pilots didn't say boo when the contractors took over, but as soon as UPS announced buying Menlo, you guys can't wait to sue them to get on the UPS seniority list. I hope you EWA guys rot in you know where before you get on someones seniority list by suing them.

Life at FedEx:

Much has already been posted on this board concerning FedEx lifestyle. I am not going to rehash it. However her are the highlights.

PROs:
1. PROFITABLE, EXTREMELY PROFITABLE = JOB SECURITY
2. Worldwide operation = Many different types of flying. There is no typical schedule at FedEX. Depending on your seniority you can have anything from around-the-world 10-12 day trips, ATL-MEM out-and-backs, week long HNL-Hilo turns, HKG standbys, week long pairings which layover at you home, to being based in the Phillippines, etc. The point being that flying at FedEx (which use to be week on week off), has changed drastically. The day sort at FedEx is huge, and many pilots such as myself have benefited greatly from it.

CONS
1. We do fly at night, if you haven't heard (but it seems we are joined more and more by our PAX carriers in flying at night, or at least the radios seem busier)
2. Money is the bottom line at FedEx. Everything they do is tied to the bottom line. Employees are just an afterthought. For example, I can fly a plane into Memphis and then jumpseat on the same plane back to my home. When I arrive in Memphis I am immediately branded as a security-risk. I have to go have my luggage x-rayed and hand searched, then escorted back, before I can go back on the same plane I just flew in. Totally outrageous. FedEx's rationale is security is of prime importance, yet at the same time we are looking for exemptions to a secure cockpit. Figure that one out.
3. Only two bases in the US: MEM and LAX. So most pilots are commuters.
4. Should be paid a bit more, but hopefully that will be taken care of in the next contract.

Anyways, overall FedEx is a good company. In the industry today, something can be said for job security, continuing seat progression and hiring, and various types of flying. I was very forunate to get hired here and am thankful.
