The simulator is an elite pcatd. Very nice set-up. Pretty sensitive, I had trouble trimming it for hands off but all in all not too bad. They give you the profile ahead of time and he explains everything very well.
As far as the written it's a compilation of a variety of questions. Not really taken from one source like an instrument written or anything. Some multi-engine questions. A question about the fuel system of the airplane you fly. Some random instrument and miscellaneous questions from AIM.
I don't know how important it is in the big picture. Just do the best you can.
