Preferential consideration for these open positions will be given to pilots who were offered conditional employment at Continental andUnited in 2008, but never had the opportunity to begin their jobs due to furloughs that year. They will be reaching out to these individuals directly.

Is this true? If so how will they contact us? I have moved over five times since I was put in the United pool. Also when I inquired about this same thing last time United started hiring I was told that they had no records about who was hired and in the pool. I hope it is true that they will give us a shot first. Anyone have any further Info on this?

I have the same question. Saved my email from 2008, but it doesn't have a return email address. If/when anyone finally hears something (in the pool) please post! I'll return the favor.

What's "legacy Continetal"? People Express or Texas International?

A common website, employee IDs, and painted planes do not make a merged airline, as much as our management would like to fool the public that this is the case.

How the hell did Continental end up with no medical benefits for pilots for 6 whole months?!?

It's what happens when you have scabs who are willing to sell what's left of their soul to hang on to possibly the best job they are ever going to get. Add a back-stabbing MEC and NC and you have the recipe for the BEST concessionary contract that CAL mgmt has ever had the pleasure of ramming up a pilots arse. What rock do you currently reside under?

Good luck all. My problem is that I don't have a buddy at the airline, am not a woman or ethnic, I haven't had a chance to be a check-airman, didn't get to fly fighter planes bc the air force thought a guy with glasses has no piloting skill, and I got passed up for the last shuttle mission. I guess I might have to sit tight until they start looking for the wash outs 10 years from now. Then I can be a life time FO on a narrow body flying shuttle flight between New York and DC all day.

Oh-My-God am I jaded, what has this industry done to me?

They should have affirmative action for white myops! Look how they were discriminated against

First year pay of $31 or $32 according to WFFF.com. Why does every airline make first year pay seem like a form of hazing????? Plus the added benefit of no health insurance for 6 months here.

It takes a while to get the scab and gummer stink off of this place. Hopefully soon we will be able to offer new hires something with a little more "dignity and respect".

L-UAL once did a real good job of vetting pilots in the pipeline... Maybe we can adopt that? I'd like to make sure we skip any Skywest pilots who came to Houston to violate my scope.
