HAHA....exactly what this guy is saying...pass the buck...not my fault! The plane says UAL on the side, but they take no responsibility for anything. I am going to be a regular customer of UAL in a few months and I am not really looking forward to it. Hopefully they can suprise me.

If you have anything other than low expectations, I suggest you try a different airline.

Wish I could....but I dont have much say in which carrier I take...the good news is I will be in F or C so at least when the Sky Hags start yelling at me there will be slightly better wine to make the pain go away! :)

That was actually really good! It sounds like it was actually United Express, though.

Maybe you have never been on a UEX flight that connects out of ord?
Who do you think handles the bags?
Quite possibly some of the same rampers that have had harsh words with our pilots (uex?)

Please educate yourself.

I've always thought that damaged luggage should be payroll deducted. Total up damages paid out per month, and divide it among the ramp employees. You will likely see a lot more self-policing if all ramp employees are sharing the burden of carelessness. I have worked on the ramp before at a major hub, and I know how bags get damaged, and how often bags are damaged due to actions of the rampers vs. overloading/failure of the luggage piece.

The same should go for aircraft damage, though 100% of the cost would likely be too much to pass on to the rampers...them airplanes are expensive to fix!

The creator made it onto Fox news the morning. Apparently, after a half million hits on Youtube, now they want to play nice and smooth it all over. They even want to use the video in their ramper training. Why can't these guys do the right thing just cause it's the right thing to do?

I don't work for united, but this guy didn't report the damage for a week after it happened. Said no one was working when he arrived, not sure how he got his guitar back then? I'm thinking he wants some publicity for his band, especially considering the guitar was insured and this guy was out nothing anyway. Had he reported it within the 24 hours required, I think they would have done something at least, maybe a free coke on his next flight.

You dont work for UAL, but you are qualified....you have the pas the buck attitude that you need to be employed there. How do you know his guitar was insured? Omaha is a small station...I have seen happen all the time, there is maybe 2 people working the last flight, so when it gets in they unload it and then go clean the plane and THEN they come inside to see if anyone has baggage problems. At this point it is probably 30 minutes after the flight has landed. As he mentioned it was late, he was tired and they had to get going in the morning for a tour. But hey....that all excuses rampers throwing customers luggage around on the ramp!

I know the guitar was insured because that is what the owner of the guitar was quoted as saying. Do a little research before you go acting all high and mighty. I didn't excuse the rampers, didn't imply PASSing the buck, just not buying the whole story. If my 3500 guitar was damaged by United, I would not wait a week to contact them, period. Two sides to every story, the truth is always somewhere in between.

Over a million hits now and "UAL has called him" to make it right. I hope he tells them it's too late and makes the other two videos.

No more "passin the buck"! They have the UNITED name on the side!

Great video

1,350,000 hits man this guys gonna get discovered.... LOL

Two sides to every story, the truth is always somewhere in between.

The most important "truth" being exposed here is that United (and probably all the other legacies) have fostered a customer service culture designed to frustrate the customer and get them to give up their claim before reaching satisfaction. When push comes to shove, they consistently seem ready to lose the customer forever rather than settle the claim. They probably have some well-dressed bean counters telling them that this is the smart business move. But, if you take a long look at the decline of United, spend some time looking at untied.com, and look at how easily new entrants have taken business from them, the rational person would come to a different conclusion.

They are going to get more coverage on this than any music they put out.

Canadian Cowboys, eh?

One of the largest Rodeo's and week long parties is the Calgary Stampede. Its an annual event and I only caught the first 2 days last year and I would love to go catch the whole party one year. And Yes Lots of Canadian Cowboys and not the one that just knows where to shop but actual working cowboys. Well worth it if you ever are up that way....

1.5 million hits and climbing. Take THAT United. He also did an interview of Fox news.

Being from the southern east coast as a kid I had no idea there were Canadian Cowboys. I figgered you were funnnin us and just poking at the Canadians LOL. Ya'll Take care out there.....

Canadian's Song About UA A Hit

Canadian's song about United Airlines a hit

HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (AP) — A Canadian musician has become an Internet sensation after posting a song on YouTube about United Airlines breaking his guitar.

Dave Carroll's video for the song "United Breaks Guitars" was posted on site earlier this week and has received more than 600,000 hits by Thursday evening.

"I was thinking I'd definitely get some action on (YouTube) because the song has been resonating so well with audiences as I've been performing it, but I didn't know it would take off like this," Carroll said.

Carroll, a guitarist for the pop-rock group Sons of Maxwell, has since been fielding calls for appearances around the world, including a call from the Oprah Winfrey show Thursday.

The song recounts Carroll's yearlong struggle to get compensation for what he calls "a vicious act of malice" at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago last year.

Carroll was flying between Halifax and Nebraska when he switched planes in Chicago. The passenger next to him noticed baggage handlers tossing guitar cases outside the plane.

Carroll's Taylor guitar required 1,400 Canadian dollars (US$1,200) in repairs. He said it still doesn't play the way it used to but he keeps it for sentimentalreasons.

The 41-year-old songwriter spent the past year trying to get compensation from United Airlines. When the airline refused to take responsibility, the songwriter made the humorous music video and posted it online.

Taylor Guitars in California has said they'd be happy to see if they could repair the damaged guitar. They also promised a big discount on his next purchase.

United also called to say it wants to discuss the situation. Carroll said officials for the airline said they liked the video and want to use it as a textbook case on how to handle customer complaints in the future.

The video shows friends dressing up as flight attendants and musicians. Volunteer firefighters played the baggage handlers who are shown playing catch with the guitar case and tossing it like a hammer throw.

Carroll initially told United he would write three songs about his broken guitar. He plans to debut the second song soon but hasn't written the third one yet.

It should've been one of those acoustic Gibsons handcrafted in Bozeman, MT, probably would of held up better.
Those crafters in Bozeman rock!
