Yeah that ACARS message threw me for a loop. I am still trying to figure out why they opened the door. Somehow I am unable to revert to my pre-9/11 mindset where that is concerned. I do know we were far more non-challant with the cockpit door then.
I still remember the first four-day trip after we started flying again. Captain had the crash axe out and kept checking on the F/A every ten minutes in flight... Full planes the first two days then total ghost town from then on...
Crazy.
