I always hated the hat. I have short hair, but still, after all day of taking the hat off and on I get hat hair. So what looks more professional, wearing the hat in the terminal, or sitting in the cockpit looking like you just ran from the TSA?
if I was bald or a Crome dome I would have wore it 'cause chicks dig it ;)
 
the hat aka " dome of obedience" is only good for one thing: to keep my dome dry during heavy snow or rain days. The rest of the year is should be at home collecting dust where it belongs.

The thing that kills me are the white sunglasses on top of the head or around the back of the neck. Really? Wtf skipper, i thought we were catching mahi mahi on this trip. And the people that hang their aviators, id's and other personal effects from their epaulets. What is that? It's not an attachment point for your stun grenades Mr. call of duty hero. You have pockets and five bags that you drag around; use them.
 
You don't like the hat....fine.. I can't stand when you take shots at guys who do like it.
I look forward to the day when the only airline uniform is Dockers, golf shirts and sneakers. :rolleyes:

Case and point..... You have issues. Now go shine your hat brass and steam your blazer for your ATL-HSV voyage.
 
You guys are worried about the guy who wears the hat when 1/2 of us have yellowed shirts that have never seen an iron, aren't tailored, aren't tucked in, and the zip tie hanging to boot. Add cheap pants, crumby shoes from Marshals, the Oakley glasses hanging from the eapaulet along with the big LSU lanyard...that's about half the tools I fly with. If it's bad enough, I will not walk near them in the terminal. Guess I have issues.

i agree with all of that... except the lanyard... i see plenty of lanyards when i jumpseat on Delta and Airtan that are plenty jacked up

Hahaha! So true..What's with the college lanyards? Unfortunately what many pilots view as "relaxed and cool" comes off as childish and sloppy.
 
Now you are really lost.

The young ones are the normal offenders on the spiky hair and ipods. Give them a chance to mature.

The ones that wear an optional have other issues. If someone wears an optional hat they most always fit into one of these categories:

Can't fly proficiently, self-esteem problems, trying too hard, inferiority complex, Big fish little pond, or EGO issues.

I look as professional as possible. When I see a hat guy....I'm on my toes.

You think the public views TSA as professional? Really?

They certainly would if they (tsa) wore hats - or so your logic would indicate.

The TSA doesn't have the tradition the airlines do...the military tradition. In the early days, most of the pilots came from the military. And the airlines basicly copied military uniforms (including hats) to send a visual message to the passengers that said "professional".

For you youngsters like Loser, check out the new show Pan Am, since you aren't old enough to remember a real Pan Am uniform. Its almost a direct copy of Navy Dress Blue.

Delta still uses a double breasted blazer that is a lineal descendent from the same Dress Blue.

The Captain's hat was something airline pilots aspired to. It was a visual signal that commanded respect. If a situation arose that the Captain had to deal with, the first thing he did was don the hat. It gives you an edge in that its an unmistakable sign of exactly who is in command.

But please don't ever wonder why the airline job (note: I didn't say profession) you finish your career in will be as a low-paid bus driver. If you won't adhere to the mere standard of a uniform regulation, how can you expect your management to respect you enough to treat you like a professional?

However, considering your attitude, you'll never be more than an RJLoser anyway. An apt screen name, to be sure.

Well the cool thing is now if you want to wear a hat you can, and if you don't then you no longer have to. I do recall from my enlistment in the navy we weren't allowed to wear our cover indoors or on the flight line so that would wittle down the places we could wear our hats if we are going by military standards. I guess it would be correct to wear it outside while waiting for the hotel van.

You are lost my friend. I'm not a youngster but by no means an old fart. I'm a furloughed guy waiting to go back to the job you stated I will never attain. I follow my companies uniform policy. Looking professional is a responsibility I take seriously. I do not wear a hat.

Looks like you have some deep seeded SWA envy. What's up with that?

Please take a minute between today and next Sunday, Oct. 23, to cast your vote for one of the two following design options: Design 1 that will display our company name only, and Design 2 displaying our logo icon only.

Ummmm, go back at look again...
The "option 3" on the first survey (the one you are referring to) is now the second option on the new survey. It was basically a close margin between #1 and #3 in the first survey, so they are having a run-off.
Or, in better terms, they are producing another survey to keep you distracted from the raping of your QOL that they continue on both sides of the current house. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
 
It is possible to not have a clear majority when there are three options. Ex: 33% , 33%, and 34%. or 40%, 40%, and 20%. I hope this clears things up.
 
Sorry to burst your bubble Fubi, but the days of Pan Am (when I KNEW I wanted to be a pilot) are gone. So too are the dedicated stewardesses who were all about customer service and making the passengers (and flight crew) happy. It was NEVER a career for them back then. Food was good, agents were professional and always polite.

Pilot respect, prestige, and pay all went away long before hats were ever an issue.
 
I think ASA has one of the best uniforms in the industry. The hat and name tag really set off the uniform.

Though, the new ASA logos are not as good as the old ones.

That's my 2 cents.
