BTW.. when i go to MCO.. is mostly for pleasure and not business. However, if i were to have more than a 2 day "lay-over" in Orlando.. i wouldnt be spending it at the mall in order to find new material to post on Flighinfo... and im the dork.....lol

Blah Blah Blah...... Blah Blah..... You guys can continue your rants. This thread has gotten outta hand and I can see how your butt buddies now. CP of a few corporations? What happend? I knew you were management from the get go..... nuff said. Enjoy each other........ Im done with you idiots.

I will say the two questions, "Are you a pilot?" and "What's your route?"

or if you go into a store resturant with just your white shirt and black pants: "You must be on your mission"

Ty, Net, RJ... come on guys. It's obvious you don't like each other.
There is a little feature called IGNORE here. Too bad it doesn't come in real life. Use it...

This whole bickering is making all of you look like a bunch of junior high kids.

All of you post informative posts on occasions... but this is crap. Don't make me stop the car. ;)

LOL...this is the most entertaining thread Ive read there.

Are you guys really adults? Let alone pilots?

I'd say please grow up....but then again this thread has been hysterical:p

Umm have you ever met a pilot? Maturity is never a requirement. ;) Shoot that is why I love this career!

If you had a layover more then 9 hours ...... you might have time to do something else besides punching the clown and going to sleep.

Totally honest question here.

Why would you assume that on a layover that other people m@sterbate and go to sleep?? What sent your mind in that direction? Is that really how you think?

Not to get away from the subject,
But I just want to see if I understand this right. The Airtran Pilot (Ty) has no or little experience because they (Airtran) only fly flights around one hour long??? Im not sure What Mr. Lee (Networking) has been doing his whole career, but from where Im at and what I do, minus the takeoff and landing and maybe a little diversion for Wx. there really is nothing to do on long flights.

and as far as profiles go, come on, do you think I got to UPS by flying a PA-23... LOL

Oh-yeah, almost forgot, Poor Rj guy is getting no respect for being a RJ pilot. personally, I think there pretty awesome...

Excuse me 4 now while I go get my uniform on... Goin to the mall...

Face it--We're all dorks in one way or another. Most are not totally dorks...except the few that take themselves way too seriously. They are the true dorks.

Time for a beer!:D TC

Wearing your full uniform in the mall = DORK. Period.
Wearing your hat while sitting in your car or the hotel van = DORK.
GET A CLUE.

Im sure all of these jamokes so quick to call others dorks have been "cool" since birth....lol

Ok .. to all the Fonzies of the world... lets get a big "Heyyyyyyyyyyyy" Thumbs up now.... I used to be Fonzie too.. till i looked around as a 30 something among early 20 somethings.... just like Fonzie....

I saw a UPS mainline guy, probably junior in seniority, pulling into the cargo parking lot recently. He was driving a new VW beetle and was wearing his HAT, while driving the car.

Flaming, came to mind.

Ha ha!!

I used to park in AA's employee parking lot when I went on trips...I had to laugh when I was getting off one Sunday afternoon and noticed a pilot driving out of the parking lot in his new mustang convertable with the top down wearing his hat. haha

Puh-lease.

I hate wearing the "hubcap". I guess it's called a hub-cap, because that's the only time you'll see me wearing it- at the hub . . . where the CP can see me!

Saw a Comair FO in that South Bend Buffalo Wings club wearing casual clothes along with his leather flight jacket...........with the epaulets and name tag still on!!!!!!!

havent seen this one, but I heard about it..... How 'bout the guy who gets off work and removes his f/o stripes and switches them to captain's bars to drive home in....of course, stopping in all the stores on the way home...LOL

I'd never really given this issue much thought, but I will say one thing: If you do PMs, and drive home late at night through areas that are heavily populated by the local constabulatory types, the shoulder boards just might help you avoid a ticket when pulled over for minor infractions!

I can honestly say that, in the last 10 years, on 2 occasions, I would have (should have!) gotten speeding tickets had I thought to remove my boards and ID for the drive home......... Both times it was basically "take it slower Capt., have a nice night." and off I went! I now just remove my tie, and leave the boards and ID on. If I stop somewhere public on the way home (a rare occurrence), I'll pull them off.

I drive a sporty, loud, domestic rwd V-8 powered car to and from the airport, which seems to catch the cop's attention even when I am not breaking any laws (I haven't had a ticket in over 10 years). I get pulled over several times a year, for no reason other than being in their jurisdiction at 0200. As soon as they see who's driving after pulling me over, they usually make up some lame excuse like a tag light out or something and send me on my way.

FWIW, I drive through a bunch of rural, central FL towns (each with their own "Barney Fifes" with radar and little to do) between MCO and APF in the wee hours of the morning.

IMHO, walking around a mall in full regalia is definitely on the "dorky" side, but who am I to judge!

On the rare occasion I have to stop into a supermarket to get something quick on the home, or fill up the car (pay at the pump!), I wear whatever I am wearing. I'm not so self-conscious that I customize my clothes for a convenience stop. I mean, does anyone really care what they think of you? Besides, I'd probably lose my epaulets.

I agree, though, hats are dorky. Good thing we don't have any. And anyone who intentionally parades around in his uniform away from the job (not a drop-in convenience stop) needs a severe head-slap.

On the other hand, there's this one time on an overnight when I found that I had packed a pair of my wife's jeans and had to go shopping for a new pair wearing polyester pants. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Tripower,

I've driven that route several times. I gave up on the "shortcut" and now just take I-4 and I-75. It's a bit longer but it turns out to be just a little quicker and definitely more hassle-free. Who wants to blow down 27 or 17 at 1am anyway? Probably hit a gator or a drunk redneck.

Did he ask them for a liter of cola?:D

Anyone running errands in a full pilot's uniform wants to be noticed. They are probably wearing some monster Aviators Super-Deeeeluxe Captain's Timepiece as well. I wear a zip-up fleece jacket to and from work. This way I don't have to disassemble my uniform if I have to stop for gas. It works great for the airport, too, if you have a long break. IF you wear your hat while driving/flying/boating/eating/hitting on women, you are a true dork. You never see the Pope wearing his big hat in the Popemobile do you?
