Those 92 hour lines can't last too long, being that the cap is 1000 hours/year, and at the 92/mo rate, you would hit 1104 in 12 months. 83/mo is the max that can be averaged. Remember that also when you read the Jet Blue wage bump over 70 or 75 hours in a month to time and a half. It is a good deal, no doubt, but don't think they can fly 100 hours in a month very often to cash in on 30 or 25 overtime hours.
I have no idea how jetBlue calculates their overtime override..... whether it is 70 hours block or credit per month.
However, at airlines that have pay rigs 1000 hours flight time is a BLOCK time limitation, not credit.
For example here are my personal actual block (flight) and credit (pay) breakdowns for this year 2004:
Mon / Block / Credit
Jan / 55 / 86
Feb / 68 / 86
Mar / 44 / 78
Apr / 45 / 78
May / 71 / 98
June / 79 / 102
Total 362 hours Flight time / 528 hours of pay.
That is 166 hours of pay for not actually flying. That comes to an average of 724 hours of annual flying for a pay credit of 1056 hours.
If I try and fly more than the average that I have, then I can easily pass 1200 hours of pay inside of 1000 hours block limit.
As a final note, since this is a "survey" thread.... if it were not for the soft pay that I get at AirTran, I would really be unhappy right now, because quite frankly we all deserve more than we make, but I cannot argue that I do get paid for alot of "sit" time, its just that my hourly rate is poor.
As a B-717 Captain I make $112.27 per credit hour, and that is the same as a DC-9 First Officer at NWA at the same years of service. I can live comfortably on the nearly $120,000 that I will earn this year, but we as pilots in this profession deserve better than we are given. And don't even start on the pay at the "Regionals".... their pay is absolutely criminal
General Lee.... I hear you loud and clear and please keep that bar as high as you can. We all need some balance in this industry and I think Delta and NWA are the last hope.
