Oh, I agree they can serve a purpose. A Samura spirit is required, nonetheless. If in Ch 11, you must be willing for your job and company to go away. If the company isn't in Ch 11, you must be willing to let your job to go away if demands aren't met and the company hires "replacement workers". It all depends on whether the bean counters factor in a fractured workforce and corp culture and what those "costs" are worth.seefive said:not true old. strikes just work that way in bankruptcy. out of it......they can serve a purpose. only in certain circumstances. jmo.
skykid said:Just making an observation AnimalTale - you think United employees should strike rather than have their compensation lowered further while mgt gets rich. YYYYYEEEEESSSSSSS!@@!!!!!!
Have you compared your retirement plan to the current one for United pilots? YYYEEEESSSSSS
Great, I'm glad for you. The compensation at "legacies" is coming down to match what the LCCs have. That is not a slam on LCCs (I admire Frontier), but just the way business is going in this country. I agree with Mugs that it is self-serving for you to be hoping for a strike at UAL (in other words, for the airline to go away via Ch7). If you want to see UAL disappear I couldn't care less, but don't post about how UAL employees should be taking a stand against having their contracts roughly match yours.Ill take my retirement options at F9 along with the workrulz, pay, people and skeds over the dire b@ll busting atmosphere at UAL.
I think it's self-serving to rail against others for taking cuts then go out and do the same yourself.
The domino effect here is going to be dramatic if not stopped. Someone should strike.

Skykid,
I think it is pretty common knowledge that the United pilots, generally speaking, would look down their noses at all other airline pilots who took pay cuts or who made less money than them. Other pilots were generally treated as second class citizens. There was a real sense of arrogance in the past and in some cases it still exists today. Of course it (the arrogance) was never justified, it was merely a trait of the type of humans that worked there. On the other hand there are some real first-class pilots that work at UAL as well. They are easy to pick out because they are the ones without the attitude and arrogance.
Do you feel mgmt at your company has taken fair cuts relative to labor? I'm asking because I've never read about genuine mgmt cuts there, but just wonder if I've missed something along the way.
