What's the latest and greatest over there? Are the FA's going to CHAOS. Are the IAM going to strike? Haven't heard anything from that quarter for a couple of days.

How about we all post what we think the odds of a strike are?

I'll start. 1%

50%, people don't always think before they shoot. You have seen some of my posts so you know it's true!:D

All I have to say is- they better be careful when theypiss off a bunch of women over there, especially the menopausel ones! :D

I hope like hell they strike. Give management what they deserve.

Yeah they'll get their golden parachute and an offer to go run some other huge company for even more money. Management has nothing to lose in a strike. Only the employees who have their entire lives invested in the company. A strike will only help those managers get another high paying CEO job quicker.

As long as UAL has that crooked judge in their pockets, nothing is going to happen to them.

The UNIONS are useless too. Management has the upperhand. I say they need to strike. If they wont strike, management is going to further degrade the lifestyles, pensions, etc etc of the employees while getting rich themselves.

Its about time the IAM show ALPO & UAL that they are not going to take this Sh!t.

It would be a pyrrhic victory, at best. If they strike UAL is gone as is their jobs. Most would probably feel, that they are better off at UAL even with more paycuts and they are probably right.

If you want a recent example, just look at the U employees, who, despite draconian cuts, daily threats and piss poor management, continued to do a good job.

One hopes, that the "glory" will one day return, but it looks bleak at the moment.

Agreed. They won't strike, but there's no way the old school employees will be able to keep up the illusion for customers that they're happy little clams and proud as parents of their company. This will be the ultimate downfall of the big blue bowling shoe.

I quess managers win.

Mainline pilots have no reason ever to bash Mesa Pcl or other low wage airlines....Why? Because they too are working for Sh!t wages, no pension and crap workrulz.

I remember when guys where making money in this industry and they belittled the low paying airlines. Now look, they are in the same boat.

We have to stop this downward spiral somehow. Alpo is not helping one bit. All Duane Worthless worries about is cockpit doors and lasers, while he collects his mighty salary and pension.

You might argue that the Unions have no power while the Airlines are in Chp. 11,,,,------> I ll tell you," What the F is a union good for, then?"

The sad thing is, you're probably right. I mean, if I did my job as bad as they did, I'd be fired with no golden anything. It's truly sad what they can get away with.

Wouldn't that be all of them? Does UA still have pre-menopausal FA's??? :-)

I guess this discussion doesn't quite include the male FAs...

How are your unions doing? How about your pension plans?

Could you come across as any more self-serving?

A strike is like using hydrogen bombs to remove the crabgrass in your lawn. I stole that from someone...
Your job has to be so bad, you don't care if the company and your job go away.

not true old. strikes just work that way in bankruptcy. out of it......they can serve a purpose. only in certain circumstances. jmo.

Mugs,

I apologize for offending you or anybody who loves Alpa etc..

I have been in this industry and I have been a product of ALPAs representation 5 times!

Right now I am with F9. We have an inhouse union, that only represents the pilots on the purest fform....Pay, lifestyle, sked, safety and JOB SECURITY.

True, we dont have a pension, but our 401K WITH COMPANY MATCH IS livable. Our pay and skedules and work rules: I will put them up to any airline and feel good or great about them. Again this is the airline industry but our union "works " with our management and tries to preserve the purest rights of the airlinepilot.

I would not want ALPA on property at F9 because Alpa forgot about its purest reason for existence: JOB SECURITY, WORK RULES, PAY etc...

Do you think Duane Worth took the job of president to really try to make a difference in the Airline Industry? or do you think the high salary pension and perks had something to do with it? IMHO, Alpa is for ALL the pilot ( Junior Regional Pilots-to MAJOR PILOTS) not just the senior wide body guys who pay more dues.

ALPA is a money making corporation...........THAT IS IT PERIOD!! If you do not see this MUGS, you are either blind, brain washed or a 747-400 Captain!

Again, these are my opinions. I have been furloughed twice and have observed this nasty environment. Calling me self-serving might make you feel better, but the sooner you wake up and smell the coffee and realize the mess we are in, I would feel better.

Also, Frontier is the best kept secret (I only wish you can join us to see). The UNIONS are doing great and our retirement is doing fine. Thank you.

Sad, but true. I just flew HNK-ORD last week (1st class). The service was considerably less than what I’ve experience in the past. I watched in amazement as one FA ate the nuts she was preparing for the paxs right out of the pan, and then proceeded to chug a carton of OJ. While I certainly don’t have any problems with crew members doing this “BEHIND” the curtain, she was doing it in full view of the 1st class cabin.

The really insane part is my employer sends me 1st class when I travel overseas. A full fare walk up ticket, one way was a whopping $1088.00 with tax. 5 years ago that ticket would have been $2000.00 or more.

I feel sorry for these employees, the game was changed on them right before retirement, and that sucks; no matter who you fly for.
