lets see if we can get back on the topic of United
Actually the above tpoic is just as important. Remember we're only one major war and catastrophy away in middle east before the oil hits 500 and there would be no united to talk about. Our lively hood depends on peace especially on that side of the world.

Not a fan of the war, but look at history, war stimulates the economy. The reason the dollar is so weak is because the Fed keeps lowering rates to loosen the money supply to off set the weak economy which was caused by the housing crisis.

Well....I'm not an economist, but another part of the picture is during times of war, governments tend to print money, to help pay off the debts of war...kind of considered a free-bee, except one thing...printing money leads to inflation by deflating the value of the currency....more supply of it leading to less value per unit of it. Remember Germany after WW1...German marks were virtually worthless, as they printed money to pay off their debts. Same thing happened to us after Vietnam...runaway inflation, as we printed money to pay off the war. Yes...wars can intially stimulate the economy, but long term, the effects can be very detrimental.

Where do you think the fund managers are investing to off set their losses in the mortgages? Crude oil, that is why gas is so high.

... which is why Congress needs to severely limit or ban altogether trading in commodities such as oil, food, etc.

The entire country is going down the toilet so the hedge fund managers can get richer.

True Joe...

I reckon the hedge fund managers will have to get better at finding the right stocks and invest in up and coming companies.... not rape and destroy this nation through running the price of commodities to unreasonable levels.

Of course the managers don't want any changes. Ask your average Americans what they want...

....what if oil futures outside of the US drive up oil...Then what?

If the dollar goes up....oil will come down...Why don't we worry about the value of the dollar? We have more control over that....
