Well america doesn't necceralliy have to start this one however they're commited to back the party that starts it and that's how you get pulled in to a mess.
I think brownie is alluding to the Israeli's taking out the Iranian nuclear enrichment plants...

I know I'll get some hate mail for saying this but personally I am hoping they'll do it sooner rather than later... In my opinion, even those oil might spike to $200+ in a short term, doing nothing will only cost all of us much more a few years from now...

A doomsday fanatic in charge of a cult driven country that's trying to develop nuclear weapons to wipe out Israel is a recipe for World War III.

Its always easier to make the required cuts prior to any merger.

So is 4-500 dollar oil, I guess we get to pick our posion!

Watch him. It’s called using the “Tax Payers Money.” No way will a senator living in Chicago let his own hometown airline die if elected President.

Being a democrat, there will be tremendous pressure on him to either bailout or re-regulate the airlines.

It’s a different story with McCain.

Wishful thinking but ain't gonna happen. How much can the govt help the airlines? We had ATSB (9-11), we have had subsidies, now you want the President to save his home-state airline, but (I would presume...) screw the states of Texas (3 majors), Georgia, Tennessee, and Missouri.

Just ain't gonna happen.

Today oil hit $140 and one of the majors is gonna shut down, period, the end.

Who will it be?

I would love to know how Bush's war bankrupts anything? Where do you think all that money is being spent? Not a fan of the war, but look at history, war stimulates the economy. The reason the dollar is so weak is because the Fed keeps lowering rates to loosen the money supply to off set the weak economy which was caused by the housing crisis. Where do you think the fund managers are investing to off set their losses in the mortgages? Crude oil, that is why gas is so high. Bush has done some dumb stuff, but you must prove to me how the war weakens the dollar.

You might be right but personally I'll choose 4-500 dollar oil for the short term knowing that prevents nuclear holocaust by Ahmadmanjihad

Nuclear holocaust? Wow, you neocons have really let yourselves get brainwashed with McLame's fear-mongering BS.

War does stimulates economy as long as it's short term. we've been in iraq for over 5 yrs and no end in sight. 600 billion spent and more to come, this is the money that needs to be pured back in to the economy but it's going in wrong direction. People like ahmadinijad are taking advantage while US troops are tied down and questionable credibility of this administration stops us from progressing with the world on key issues. 3 billion dollars a week are plenty to fix major issues facing our nation but unfortunatly is being spent on unfixable and unchangble. GOD HELP US ALL
