Just got word that in the UAL computer system, TSA and Go Jets have priority over SkyWest which has priority over Mesa. I will be checking the gate area for any jumpseaters on the flights I work to ensure that SkyWest guys get on SkyWest flights first. Please look out for our commuters.
Obviously, it depends on whose metal the flight is operated on. Each Express carrier has their own UAL side priority and the individual J/S priorities are spelled out in Apollo. I posted SKW's a while back here.
I'm not at work, so I can't look...but I believe UAL mainline J/S goes as follows:
UA Pilot
UA dispatcher
UAX pilot (by check-in time)
UAX dispatcher (by check-in time)
OAL pilot (by check-in time)
OAL dispatcher (by check-in)
I don't believe any preference is given as to which UAX carrier the jumpseater works for...just whoever requested the jumpseat first. Then again, I could be way off...I haven't looked at the priority lists in a while.
If anyone has access to Apollo, the command line is S*UAL/UAX-OMC or, for mainline I think it is S*UAL/UA-OMC ...otherwise, I will look when I get a couple spare minutes tomorrow.
How in the hell did this happen?Pilots got the memo today. Priority on all UA and express codeshare flights is
- #1 UAL
- #2 TSA/GoJets
- #3 Skywest/Chatauqua/Shuttle
- #4 Mesa/Colgan.
Pilots got the memo today. Priority on all UA and express codeshare flights is #1 UAL #2 TSA/GoJets #Skywest/Chatauqua/Shuttle #4 Mesa/Colgan.
This changes little on mainline as far as I'm concerned because every single time I'm about to go down with paperwork in hand as the door closes here comes running a pair of UA pilots and I'm off looking for the next flight. But GoJets has priority over everyone but a UAL pilot in EVERYONE'S jumpseat. Now that's something to be irate about.
This is only the priority in the UAL computer system...it does not change the ACTUAL priority per the GOM.
While the memo wasn't crystal clear on that, it's purpose in my opinion was to alert us to the change in the UAL computer system, NOT to notify us that our priority has been changed per SKW policy.
But GoJets has priority over everyone but a UAL pilot in EVERYONE'S jumpseat. Now that's something to be irate about.
The tricky part to this is that the UAL computers are going to assign the TSA holding pilots a higher priority on ALL UAX flights. Gate agents will believe their computers, and will probably send the TSA pilots down the jetbridge first. However, what the computer says, and what your company manual says, are two different things. Your company manual wins. Make sure if you get caught up in this that you speak with the Captain!
Wait...I have a jumpseat now? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot? We are talking the one jumpseat in the flight desk right?
Wait...I have a jumpseat now? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
This part is incorrect. On OO equipment, OO pilots go first. I am sure that most other airlines are the same. From what I understand, the exception is TSA holdings pilots. Evidently TSA holdings ( Trans States and goo-jets) is giving the United pilots priority in their cockpit jumpseats over their own pilots. To sort of reciprocate, United is giving priority of their cockpit jumpseats to TSA holdings pilots over other express carriers. Why Mesa and Colgan got the big shaft, I don't know.
You just said above TSA has an agreement and then you say otherwise in your 2nd paragraph? If you are talking about SKW jumpseat and then a TSA got on it before a SKW person yes then that makes sense that company should get it before. But if you are talking a skywest plane and seats in the back and a TSA person getting on it before a SKW that makes sense. Its how MANY priority systems work out there. The seats in back your company has no control over. However mainline has it set up is how its set...... Jumpseat is the only thing your company can control as your company operates that AC.
Is it just me or does that sound like a very bad deal?
The problem at many stations is they are operated by UAL or Air Whisky or Comair and they don't give a crap about what the SkyWest FOM says. Often times agents won't let a jumpseater down to talk to the captain. That's why on turns I will make every effort to walk up the jetbridge and let myself be seen in the gate area, and hopefully any jumpseaters will be able to approach me. I'm not going to let TSA or Go Jets or UAL mainline in my jumpseat ahead of a company pilot and my FOM backs me up on that. The hard part is often getting by the over worked gate agent who doesn't have time to deal with it.
Now if its last second and then your pilot comes up as the door is closing I would have to say the hell to ya and whoevers there is there. Not going to let them wait to the last second and boot someone who got their early. But that's me.
And as soon as you upgrade you can do just that!
Azz clown, the goal is to leave on time and arrive on time, guess you never had to park in the penalty box,Oh ok? How about you get your ass where you need to be ahead of time instead of screwing someone if the flight is full? Novel concept ass clown.
Mature... and I'm glad you can spell "azz" right.... nicely done pal?Azz clown, the goal is to leave on time and arrive on time, guess you never had to park in the penalty box,
oh wait there is no penalty box in MSFS.

Does anyone else wonder why TSA and HoJet are getting priority over the other carriers, or is it just me?
