Why push a merger? That's my question. Just run your airline as best you can and get on down the road without trying to sell yourself.
Gup
They are parking 6-8 747's....and you think they are going to part out the company?
I would be more concerned if they started selling off the asia routes.
I wonder how many pilots would end up on the street total with a CAL/UAL merger any ideas?
What's the difference if you're selling the planes that you have that fly the Asian routes?
Where's my 44 magnum??? Glenn where did you go?
That's sad. I believe at 1 point they had 54 744's.That airplane won't stay in the desert. Probably be UAL that pulls it out. Even after the 6 or 8 744s get parked I think they still have 2 dozen+ flying.
That's sad. I believe at 1 point they had 54 744's.
Any UAL'ers confirm this?
This is the line that got me:
I hope Mr. Tilton retires to the golf course very soon.
That's sad. I believe at 1 point they had 54 744's.

I thought I had won the lottery when I was hired at United. Six figure salary within 3 years. Six figure pension. 11% B-fund. Paid medical and dental for life. Great choice of domiciles. Quick upgrade. Free travel. Then salary went back to five figures. Pension - gone. Paid benefits - gone. HNL - gone. ANC - gone. MIA - gone. SEA - downsized (again). 737 - gone from west coast. Quick upgrade now looking like 15+ years. Free travel - gone. My job - gone.

United. Pissing employees off for more than 80 years.
Funny, but that statement reminds me of other recent issues in the airline world. i.e. "Age 60."His answer was basically: "It's not right, that's how it is"
I think the most -400's we, I mean they, had was 44. You could add in the -200's and that number could have totalled 54 at one time, but I don't remember.
It is scary to think what would happen to a potential recall of someone who is getting f-ed now from UAL in the event of merging seniority lists with another company.
