He noted that ExpressJet, a Regional partner of Continental Airlines, recently issued an RFP for 10-15 turboprops.
So, some internet "journalist" writes an article quoting some analyst who says XJT has issued an RFP? RIIIIIIIIIGGHHHTTT....

Did not happen. Anybody care to post a press release or a real source?

XJT is looking at buying turboprops to feed more Mexican cities from the MEX hub. The MEX operation they are planning will be South America stuff in EMB-170s (XJT colors, not CAL) and Dash-8-Q400s for the mountainous stuff. I heard it from a "senior captain and check airman who knows people."

I heard the following:

SkyWest wants out of TP flying.

Gulfstream, CapeAir, and CommutAir are bidding on TP flying for XJT. Deadline ofr bids mid-December.

FWIW
Okay, now that someone else has put it here, I'll second that. Heard the same thing.

Are you smoking crack? Judging from your avatar, you must be Houston based… that will explain the 170 comment. For the rest… there’s no basis for any of the comments. Ask a EWR guy if anyone wants to quell the rumors and get facts, please. No TP’s and no 170’s. The acquisition rumors have to do with SW’s completion factor (or lack there of) and CO is the decider not XJT. But I’m sure many will tell you otherwise… you know from “check airmen” or other cool-aid drinkers.

This is the kind of nonsense that caused a very misinformed 61% of our pilots to take a TA up the arse.

Dude, it was a joke. A sense of humor is directly proportional to one's intelligence....

I cant wait for the capacity purchase agreement to end...Then we will see how strong Express really is.

Tell your captain to slow down.... the extra $5 isn't worth the 60kt taxi.

What the... who asked you SW boy. Pray your fuel hedge lasts another decade and STFU.

Oh Yeh, man turboprops are the wave
of the future...Corpex can't even get
two jetpigs out of the desert, let alone
the three Viscounts, two Electras and
the clapped out F-27 they want!!!

That's why BAE is re-engining the -146
with two big a$$ turboprop engines...

Hehehehe!!!

Put the pipe down and walk away...
