Why do some airlines require pilot applicants to have a college degree? A good friend of mine has never been to college and still has a great career and life to match.

I heard of one case (QX I believe) where the HR people interviewed two people. One had a bunch of C-130 time and the other had a bunch of C-150 time. When class started, the flight ops guys that interviewed these two asked HR why the C-150 guy was in class and the C-130 guy was not.

"Because the C-150 is a bigger airplane - isn't it?

The degree matters because the HR people have degrees. Such people also tend to over-value the importance of that piece of paper, while never grasping the fact that there is a difference between education and intelligence.
