The title speaks for itself.
Didnt want to be overstafed by 20 for a few months. Saves them what 30G a month when the owner makes 30 million a year PROFIT!

To those who will get furloughed, unfortunately, its a blessing in disguise. Maybe you'll get preferential treatment elsewhere.

Just heard about it as well from friends in class, that sucks since those guys have not even been on the line a month I dont think. That means when I get pushed back to reserve by all the 41 people coming over to the jet ill get used and abused on reserve. There will only be like 20 reservists. Can you say junior man, I know scheduling can. I wonder if the furlow notices will have hojet invitations stapled to them.

Will they hire the furloughed TSA pilots at G0Jets, since it is under the same holding company? Seems like a good opportunity to switch over and upgrade fast, especially if they can keep their seniority numbers.

Its true. The furlough takes out both the Feb and March 06 classes. It also took out at least the bottom 3 in the Jan 06 class. Heard that more will follow and that there will also be more displacements so dont know if that means maybe RIC closing (which I heard about a month ago) or if even more Capts will be downgrading to FO's. So I might be looking at my 3rd displacement in like 5 or 6 months....yaaay

Well, if I get furloughed ill be headin for Ft. Rucker a bit earlier than anticipated. I guess I better get that ball rollin a bit faster.

Not to mention make a few bucks less per hour and be hated by the entire industry.... good call!

This is the ol' bait n' switch times 2!

Did TSA have their block hours cut, or are you guys just fat from the J41 guys transitioning over? Any idea how long it will last?

I had a friend or two in those classes...sounds like a tough summer ahead for everybody there...

i just talked to one of the guys who was furloughed. they told him the reason for it was b/c of us 41 guys goin thru jet class or downgrades (ha), and that they plan on having them back around sept when we're all done with class.

They're getting the guys through training entirely including IOE prior to furlough. You can look at this a couple of ways: First, we probably go through 20 pilots in a few months by attrition. Secondly, it sounds like they want to be able to bring these guys back quickly, thus being fully trained prior to furlough.

As I told one of them today, use it as an opportunity to get resumes out to the other carriers like CHQ who are hiring and don't look back. Still sucks though...

Well they didnt offer me a g0jet job when I went in to get the talk.

I heard one guy finished the check ride in the sim yesterday and got the ax today, now that is classy uncle H. Didnt they do that to hojet people at the beginning-Finish them up and say your furloughed for 3 months well call ya.

So the people in the pipeline now will complete IOE then be given their walking papers? They must not plan on them going out of currency then...

Can these guys/gals make more on unemployment than you can as a reserve?

Did they take your badge and strand you in St. Louis? Or did you get to JS home with it and mail it. Real classy company huh?

Nope Im lucky enough to go work for my good ole uncle and do my IOE.

So, I guess it wasn't possible to give 30 days notice? Was not possible. Let me say that one more time. It was not possible for them to give you 30 days notice. Amazing.

The alpa guy never came to class...is that what they are supposed to do?

The contract says 30 days notice whenever possible, but not less than 14 days notice unless there's some kind of emergency.

Good luck guys, hope you all find something better so you don't have to come back when/if you get recalled.

You guys will all be at Chautauqua in a few months and senior to those of us who are "lucky" enough to still be working at this ******************** hole.

Good luck to you guys.

I guess the company had some sort of "emergency" and coulnd't give you 30 days notice.

No F/O should pick up open time, no matter whether these guys who are getting forloughed will be coming back or not.

Thanks for the support yall. Looks like Im going back to flight instructing so I can get a new perspective on why I ever wanted to do any of this. :p

They still owe all those furloughed out of seniority after 9/11 vacation and sick time. TSA management is the scumiest around. They willfully break the contract and challenge the union to do something about it. They have prolonged some arbitration so long that the arbitrator died. I would think that at some point the union could take some of the cases to federal court, but I'm just a stupid pilot who stayed there for 4 and a half years and took it repeatedly from the scum management. At least I escaped any more abuse. Seriously- the union has got to do something about the willful treading on the contract. There has got to be something beyond arbitration since that absolutely isn't working for anything. What is on-time performance like lately? Are guys sticking together yet and flying the contract and telling the truth on the times? Money is the only thing that matters to management and taking it away from them with the truth on times at least has to feel a little satisfying.

So where exactly should one of us apply? I wanna get the rundown straight here:

ASA: contract delays...maybe losing flying to skyw
SKYW: non union....but people seem to like it
CHQ: everyone hates 'em right now but seniority might come quick
9E: future unknown...hiring a ton
mesaba: maybe shut down by compass?
MESA: uh..no furloughs...
G0jet:hmmm...I am "in with the company"
XJET: possible furloughs
Horizon: upgrade anytime soon?
AE:what is it up to 9 years upgrade now?

Not that upgrade is everything but wouldnt it but just as worth it to wait it out? Not making flames looking for a what would you do type answer.

Is what worth the wait? Is TSA worth the wait? I think not. The reason that these companies have a long upgrade is because people are staying there & most of them like it. You have to decide what's better for you? QOL or a quick upgrade?
