What's the pay and QOL like for a trucker? Like that quote better? I don't think I could stay sane looking at the road that many hours of a day. Then again with the state of this industry I don't know how much longer I'll keep sanity in my grasp.

I read an article after 9-11 that quite a few laid off Airline pilots were seeking employment as long haul truck drivers. It actualy sounds like it could be a fun adventure if you had the right mindset.

I asked for the driving school number as a joke. I believe my intent was to make light of the current airline industrie's situation. Instead I got to laugh my a$$ off at some of the responses to the original posting and watch flame being thrown back and forth. Keeps me busy laughing... something I haven't had an opportunity to do in a while. I find humor in most of the posting here.

Also, did you get your 5000 hrs in the CAP? If so that means you are a 70 yr old retired F4 Phantom pilot. Those were the only adults I ever saw when I went to a CAP meeting (Only went once, wasn't impressed). The rest were pimple faced kids dreaming of saying "Hey MAV...." and other TOP GUN quotes...

You funny. But I resemble that remark. Fun? Thrills a minute. I got a CDL and have driven in between flying jobs, gives you a high tolerance for flying. Start with the work hours; where you are limited to 30 hours in 7 days and it's an honest number on tape. A driver is limited to 70 hours and it's a funny number because driver's logs are works of fiction baring a passing resemblance to reality. I got pissed off at the company ( a normal occurence) and kept honest logs for awhile: my 7 day total was regularly in excess of 90 hours. any driver would laugh his ass off at the things that pilots bittch about. Ya don't know how good you got it to fly.
