210FR8DOG

I got the good news letter from Trans States!!

Ya'll ever see a redneck freight-dog flyin' a jit, er jet?

"Hey ma, watch this!!"

I didn't "know" anyone on the inside and the interview was very enjoyable. Send your resumes. I'll post on aviationinterviews. Good luck to all who interviewed Dec. 4.

Jeff,
Have you heard anything about class dates yet? I got the good letter also!! See you in St Louis!!

Jan. 12

looks like Jan. 12. I wish it was sooner. It's hard to climb into these crusty old Barons now!!! At least we're not in a pool forever though. I've got every flavor of Ramen in my suitcase now.

Any TSAers with info on a crash pad please PM. I cant get on TSAlounge 'cause I guess my cookies are the the wrong flavor or they're stale or something!!

Hi Guys,

I also received the letter and a probable Jan. 12th date. I'll know more later today. I'll start packing the Ramen also. Yippee!
You mean that I'll actually have to put a coat on up there in St. Louis? I'm not use to that down here in the Deep South! What are those crazy white things falling out of the sky? Ha ha!

FWIW

I was hired by them in Aug 2001, put into a hiring pool, then promised a 'reinterview' in Dec 2002. Once the hiring picked up they told me my 300 multi hours were not enough and the new multi min was 500. You appear to have 135 experience, maybe that would offset the lack of multi.

good luck

Congrats Dude!

I got my letter as a result of a December 3 interview. There was no mention of a class date. Did your letter mention one??

Jon210, I think the lowest multi time the day of my interview was about 450 and that was with military experience. Most had quite a bit more. That said, give it a shot, all they can say is no. I sent them my first resume when I had 25 hours of multi because back then, the website said, "at the company's discretion, pilots may be hired with lower times". Then when I FINALLY started flying the Baron, I updated the resume every 100 hours of multi. Maybe I got the persistance award, I don't know.

also, I went to the Mesa interview this week. Their multi minimums are only 100 and there were LOTS of people there that just barely had that. They are hiring a billion pilots in 2004. All growth is in the jets. Forget the Mesa bashing and make your own decision for you. 210 forever or CRJ forever? hhmmmmm.

citdrver- the letters did not have a class date. I called Sara with a question yesterday and she asked if I wanted to be in the Jan. 12 class. She said she would be calling everyone within a week or so to confirm. Congratulations.

I just got off the phone with Sarah. Jan12 class date!!!! It's really going to be hard to keep climbing into that 210 now. Wow, I just complained about getting called for a class date. I think I need more sleep.

Confirmed - I just received a call from Sarah also. I'll be there for the Jan. 12th class date as well. See you guys there!

Try not to forget us little people. I'll trade you a classic mint condition '73 210 for that Baron...

Just curious, where is the growth coming from? UAX or American.

Jeff,

CONGRATS BUD!!!!!!

Finally got that jet spot. And just think after your first year you will be making more than a 4 year lear pilot here at ANS(ME!!) Man i am jealous... well at least about the money part. I will NEVER be jealous about the schedules... man i love my weekends and holidays OFF!!!! But anyway... i am happy you get to move on from FEX finally. Do they at least fly into TX? LEt me know how the training goes. I do wish i could move back to STL though, we loved it when we were based there... see if you can rent a place out by St. Charles... it is only a few miles from the airport, and it is a nice area. Maybe your classmates will split rent with you for a nice place. I know a great APT. complex if you need one, like i said it is only about 4 miles to STL and it is on the good side of the river(Misouri river).

Once again Congrats, maybe i will look into TSA myself since things are getting kind of hairy here at ANS.

Talk to ya later.

house, the growth is from a few American Connections, but most (10 new airplanes) from United for now, maybe more later coming online ...

thanks

Noel, thanks a lot man! I know what you mean about weekends and Hollidays. I've had em off for 2 years, but it's just time to move on, you know? Pilots and immediate family(my wife, daughter, and parents) fly free on American Connection(TSA, Chautauqua, and Corpex) so yes we can definitely make it back to Dallas,Texas to see everyone. My wife is most excited about that!!!

Thnks for the heads up on St. Charles. I spent a little time over there and I agree, it's really nice. We are working on getting into some established crash pads for training though since most of us newbies will end up in Richmond, VA for a while. They're easier to get in and out of and much cheaper. If your interested in coming here I will definitely do all I can to help. I got on without knowing anyone but I think that was a real lucky shot. Everyone else seemed to have a little "help". New contract with United should keep hiring strong for a while. Fly safe,

Jeff

Awesome! Congrats, man!

Jeff!
GREAT news that you're getting your shot to move on! You and your family have definitely paid the price *10 to get there. I'm thinking it was about 1 1/2 years ago when I flew up to Springdale to chat with you about Flight Express. It's been a long road, and you hung in there. Hats off to you. I must admit though, I get a little teary-eyed knowing you won't be going to work any more in a dirty t-shirt and baseball cap.
Have fun in the jet!

Hi!

Ya'll need to go to www.tsalounge.com.

U have 2 register, but it's free. It's owned by the TSA MEC chairman.

I believe that U can still get cheap hotel accomodations during training while in STL.

Have fun!

Hurry up and get trained! We are and have been way short for the last couple of months and the schedules are going down the crapper until the training department gets a ton more of you guys on line. Pref bid just bit the dust and even with more than 90 hours for all the lines, there are no reserves on the jet and the transition period (the first 4 days of the month) will tack on a bunch more flying for almost everyone. I wish you all luck getting hired and training- work your butts off and don't wash out or get retrained since we NEED you yesterday! Hurry, hurry, hurry! I hope you like to fly a lot.

jtf, I'm so ready. Washing out is NOT AN OPTION and yes I do want to fly a LOT if only for the money. 100 hours @ $21.22 will ALMOST pay all my bills, hehehe. I just bought the whole stock of Ramen from Publix. There are suppose to be 28 in Dec. 8 class and 41 in Jan. 12 class(mine). Hang in there, I'll take all the flying I can get. Are you in RIC or STL? All newbies still going to RIC I assume?

Don't be so sure you'll be getting a jet slot. There is a ton of movement in the J41 right now. Rumor has it, that the January classes will have lots of J41 FO's.

Hi!

Reserve pilots get 11 days off min. and lineholders 12 days off.

My friend is getting ususally 12 days off on the 41, and he would be getting 16 off on the jet. THe jet flies longer legs, so your monthly hour allotment goes in a lot less days. He is hanging on in the -41 trying to get to capt, and seeing the CQFO's pass him by.

Reserve is 10 days off min. and almost always ends up being only 10. Line holders are only guarenteed 11 and every single J-41 FO line (not reserve with the min of 10) has only 11 days off for January. J-41 lines seem to always be crappy even when we aren't so short (but not this bad). The max days off for STL jet FOs will be 14 and the max for RIC jet FOs will only be 12. These have been better in recent months, but the crunch is really on- I don't think there is a single jet line next month with less than 90 hours- though the pairing could definitely be better to more proficiently make high time lines with more days off.

Good luck all applicants and all those who will be starting soon- we really need you yesterday.
