AerroMatt said:The rats at ERAU and all the other colleges are the faculty and administration that continue to sell Aviation as a great career opportunity. All they are doing is laughing their butts off while taking the money to the bank. They flood the aviation market with newbies while the promised pilot shortage never materializes.
More's the pity, many do come out of ERAU, NDSU etc with the chip on their shoulder which will guarentee they will have a tough time advancing until they realize that the aviation world owes them NOTHING, contrary to what they were taught at their alma maters.
Honestly, I think its the other way around. Most people are intimidated, jealous, or ignorant about this whole flight school stigma. Yes, there are aviation tools everywhere Riddle has more than its fair share...guys looking 777 APU specs. instead of laying the pipe to their girlfriends etc.
In my expirience I never tell anyone what school I went to until they ask, and then they go "Oh,...huh." I hear its called dropping the Riddle bomb.
Its not to long after that when I start hearing comments about like, "I didnt go to Riddle like you but, I learned at (fill in the blank) to do it this way." Well if thats the way you were taught youre probably right too, there's a million ways to skin this cat; I dont give a sh1t how you fly this airplane as long as its safe and you dont try to kill me. There's obviously certain things we should agree on, like not descending below MDA until we see the enviornment etc.
Stereotypes breed unnecessary contempt.
