Sonny, second time I have asked. Why not get the glitch fixed?

MEC Jumpseat Comm. Reminder on UAX Carrier Jumpseat Situation
MEC Jumpseat Committee Chairman Captain Bob Spadea would like to advise all United pilots that commute on our UAX carriers that you may be receiving a letter from the respective carrier's Jumpseat Committee the next time you request a jumpseat from the captain. In summary, this letter issues an ultimatum to the UALMEC and the Jumpseat Committee to resolve several jumpseat issues pertaining to computer programming software that sorts UAX pilots for jumpseats on UAX flights. According to the letter, if these problems are not resolved by July 31, 2008, jumpseats will be DENIED to United pilots.

The aforementioned problems have been identified and cannot be easily resolved due to the magnitude of the UAX operation. Some of these issues require software rewrites, manpower assignments and additional funding. In a series of face-to-face meetings between your Jumpseat Committee and the UAX jumpseat members, the parties were made fully aware of the complexity of these problems. They were also made aware of the limited resources, limited manpower and funds needed to correct these problems.

Your Jumpseat Committee is working with UA flight operations and UA management to inquire as to what alternatives can be implemented in resolving these problems. Keep in mind that we will not allow any carrier to use the jumpseat as a bargaining chip or leverage in meeting demands or forcing policies. In issuing this ultimatum to our MEC, these UAX carriers are 100% responsible for any consequences that may result from their course of action.

The UALMEC Jumpseat Committee will update you as appropriate.

Sorry I didn't "JUMP" for you the last time you asked, but IF YOU READ THE ABOVE YOUR ANSWER YOU WILL FIND.

well according to the UAX guys who have been in these meetings, the CS people said that it is an easy fix. Who are we to believe, people that fly the planes, or people that work on the computers?

I'm willing to bet any mid-level college student could fix the software in a couple hours tops.

why is it when the UAL JSC "requests" that all the UAX carriers adjust their JS priority it is a professional courtesy,( and when they did not get what they want, they changed the priority system on their own) but when the UAX carriers request a simple fix to the software, it is a war?

1. CS said it was an easy fix during meetings between the JSCs

2. If the UAL MEC can provide proof that its either to costly to fix, or there is not enough man power to rectify the problem the UAX carriers would back down.

Its clear that in official communications between the JSCs that UAX carriers did not agree with the UAL JSC and were subsequently moved from "K" to "L" priority because they did not agree with the UAL JSC taking priority over all UAX jumpseats . The priority shift gave TSA and Go-Jets priority over Skywest, Mesa, and Chitacqua(sp) on their jumpseats. The change in priority was made in a month or two. Which is why i too believe that it will not take significant money or man power to redo the priorites of the carriers.

Giving Go-jets and TSA priorty over skywest, mesa, and chitacqua on their own aircraft is just not right. I trust individual United pilots when it comes to jumpseat issues and allowing pilots priority own their aircraft. But if Go-jets is at the gate too, i dont trust them further than i could throw them. I'm also not to trusting of TSA now either since they obviously don't have a problem with stealing proity of the jumpseat.

Hey ALPO fix the problem! what 2% of pilot pay isn't enough? For Gods sack we launched men to the Moon and Back 39 years ago with a computer that is about is smart as your cell phone.
Stop the Bit#%ing you Liberal Obama Supprts and CHANGE the program. (the letter got your attention didn't?!? that was the whole point suckaaaa)

Funny. Seems there were plenty of funds available to make the recent changes to UAX priorities, i.e., K1 - Go-Jets, TSA; K2 SKW, et al.; L - Mesa, et al.

Seems everyone here agrees what the priority SHOULD be. All this hubbub, then, is over a few keystrokes to change the software to what we all agree is right.

So, after approaching UAL MGT and UALPA MEC over such a length of time; And basically been told by both to piss-off;

I'm curious to know what other diplomatic measures might be suggested.

Now when exactly did the UALMEC tell you to piss off then?

This would not of helped anybody if this would have gone forward. It already has gotten some blood to boil over at UAL.

Remember - if you are in a fight with your wife and you "win" the argument but don't get punani for a week......did you really win?
