Freedom Airlines Pilot List

Sorry, I don't believe the names of these individuals should be made public without their permission.

Hey its called the regionals for a reason. Were not flying 777. We are flying RJ'S. And just because MESA is off a couple of dollars here and there and hour. Your going to talk all of this **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**. MESA AND CHQ. are the hated regionals. Were on our own. No wholly owned BS. Were expanding, and your not. So F- off.

Yeager1,

In the 4 or so years I've been around this website thats gotta be the worst, most immature statement I've ever read on here. You really don't get it do you? I hope your just kidding.

I'm more upset by the way Mesa handles their passengers than the "race to the bottom" stuff posted on these boards. After flying with them I was stuck on the ramp looking at my hotel for 40 minutes waiting for a slot to de-plane in Vegas.

Then on my return trip, we were supposed to take off at 1am, and were told at 12:45 that the plane would be "a little late" arriving at the gate. It wasn't even at the gate yet! The reason was the captain never showed up! Another guy got flown in last minute from PHX to take over. We took off 50 minutes late.

My problem was that no one I talked to seemed to care. It was 1am and a full plane, and they were fully aware that it would be more than "a little while". Why not just let us know that it'll be 45 minutes so we can tell our rides to pick us up that much later? They screwed a lot of people and didn't care at all. That's the problem with Mesa.

Labbats,

Are you aware that Mesa doesn't operate the ramp or gates at LAS? It is all run by America West, blame them, their computer system, etc. I know first hand the shortcomings of the internal structure at Mesa but this time they weren't to blame. For those wishing to complain about Mesa ops on the east coast, don't. All ramps and gates east of the Mississippi are run by AirWiskey, United, PSA, Piedmont, Allegheny and Usair.

I don't hold a grudge over any Mesa pilot, I hold it all on JO and those Freedom pilots. I carry a list of Freedom Pilots and reference it whenever I see a Mesa ID badge. All of the Mesa pilots that see me reference the list appreciate it.

Freedom guys and gals, take note, whenever you try to jump on my airplane you will not be welcome. Mesa, AirMidwest, and CC Air, you are all welcome to sit in first class.

Interesting list...

anyone know if that David Opwanya guy is the seriously strange fellow from ERAU DAB? (a few years back)

I'm pretty clueless as to the inner working of regionals, but it was a Mesa captain who didn't show up, and Mesa people at the gate that treated me like a burden. I'll pony up the extra 10% to my cost next time and fly with someone else. My time is worth something, to me at least.

At least I am an admitted beer drinker. But not the cheap stuff.

Good thing those 300hr wannabes have a CA with them - they'd kill themselves in about three seconds flying boxes in the UP.

Gear-jerkers.

And no crap about having to pass all the same tests, blah, blah.

We ALL KNOW that whoever the company wants to pass will pass.

Standars are HIGHLY flexible in this biz, and only a fool will pretend otherwise.

I heard that JO wanted to put the 737's on the Freedom certificate. I am just curious but didn't the low wage contract provide iron-clad scope so that JO couldn't pull stunts like that anymore. Not trying to flame just want to understand the situation better.

Freedom list and Mesa 737s

I've seen the Freedom pilot list before. I read it with more than a degree of irony and chagrin. I know or have met at least two people on the list. One was a long-time Mesa Chief Pilot who ignored my letters for a second interview. I finally met him in person after I went to work for MAPD. I did not bring up my letters. The other was an ERAU training manager who did not see eye-to-eye with me regarding stage checks. This gentleman was a political animal.

I find it rich that Mesa would consider operating 737s. I know that has been a long-time rumor. I interviewed with Grady Reed in 1990. At that time, RJs were being developed and were featured in pilot magazines. When Mr. Reed asked if I had any questions, I asked Mr. Reed if Mesa had plans to acquire RJs. He said "no" and it was obvious that he did not appreciate my question. I believe that question led to my rejection and subsequent follow-up reconsideration requests to the aforementioned Chief Pilot. Of course, the epilogue to that story is that Mesa operates both kinds of RJs and that MAPD grads are being placed in their right seats!

Lesson learned: Don't take the bait if offered the opportunity to ask questions at an airline pilot interview. That's a subject for another thread.

For any low time guys out there I know the thought of getting an airline job at 300hrs is your dream but think carefully. No offense, but a pilot with 300hrs total has not business being in the right seat of any sort of jet.
RJ FO from a respectable company

What do ACA, CHQ, Mesa, Pinnacle, Eagle, ASA and others have in common?...................................... In the last three years they all have hired pilots with under 600hrs from bridge programs like Flight Safty, Purdue, MAPD and ERAU. I interviewed at CHQ over a yr ago and there were guys from Purdue with 350 hrs in the class. Not looking to argue the merits, just want to make sure that everyone understands that this isn't just a Mesa thing. -Bean

its not just mesa

I'm pretty clueless as to the inner working of regionals, but it was a Mesa captain who didn't show up, and Mesa people at the gate that treated me like a burden. I'll pony up the extra 10% to my cost next time and fly with someone else. My time is worth something, to me at least.

how much flying have you done?!?! american pushes back delays within 15min of dept. happened to me last weekend when weather screwed things up at ohare. first the flight was delayed (i asked the desk if it was due to the plane not being able to come in and was right), next the plane shows up, but 10 min from dept they announced another 1hr delay, this time for the crew being delayed.

this happens all over the industry. wake up mesa bashers and smell what you're shoveling.

Two things:

1) 1000 hrs doing touch and gos in cessna 172's really prepared me for 121 flying. Really, it did. Honest to god. Why would I lie?

2) If mesa starts flying 737's, it will be with pilots from the MAG seniority list under the ALPA contract, regardless of which certificate they are flown under. Scope, after all, is the only thing that is in our contract. Without scope, everything else is meaningless.

huh..huh...hu...MESA SUCKS BEAVIS...huh...huh..huh..huh....yeah...yeah....kick their ass....huh..huh..huh..huh

No2bottomfeeders post...

Is why I spend less and less time here. Some sanctimonious wanker spouting off what a few other empty heads have repeated. Just because you can run the Barry Manilow fan club doesn't give you insight to say diddly to anyone about "the aviation profession". You sir have the IQ of a turnip, and if you had any cajones, you wouldn't be flying an RJ that REPLACED a Mainline jet outright. But in you own vacant thought process, you think that someone possibly undercutting YOU is bad; another "... hurray for me and to he11 with you..." self-centered nitwit. Well, I got news for ya, technically the regionals are now in the REPLACEMENT business. Nothing more. Nothing less. If you were consistent, you'd resign over the slovenly pay and bad contract you bemoan out of principal. You fly RJ's where Mainline planes once flew DIRECTLY putting a higher paid pilot out of a job. Calling you a wanker is a serious insult to the true wankers out there, dufus......

To: nobottomfeeder (aka fudgepacker)

you obviously don't read the press. the media has given air time in recent weks to the fact that:

customers , not mesa have caused the downward spiral in wages. ticket prices are coming down. For example, on NBC just last night Jetblue was featured for having a coast to coast $219.00 round trip.

the majors are accustomed to charging $1300 easily for such a trip.

therefore, besides being ignorant and of course a loser for wanting to stir up crap, you're an example of the mental capacity that is in fact worthy of $20.00 an hour.

ever tried mowing lawns?

The reason why we are upset is when the NMB comes to us durring contract segotiatins and suspends talks because he says we are asking too much. We are asking more than MESA or CHQ or MESAba.

The actions of others are directly effecting my quality of life. It is time that people be heald responsible for their actions. I carry the Freedom list and PM me if you want it. And stay the hell off my airplane asking for leftover meals!

dang man you sure seem to have a thing goin on with those crew meals. Last time I checked airplane food wasnt that great though it could be different where you work. Almost every post you make on this subject you complain about precious crew meals. Get over it, and if you need to you can get a nice little lockbox for your crew meals if they are that precious to you.
