WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) - A sweeping overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system to be announced on Tuesday in the U.S. House of Representatives will include a surtax on millionaires of 5.4 percent, congressional sources said.
The tax rate is higher than the 3 percent surtax lawmakers had been discussing earlier and would be imposed on those making more than $1 million a year, the sources said.

Brokeflyer you wanna take this one? You seem to have all the answers lately.
On the other hand, maybe browntothebone can write his congressman and get this law overturned seeing as how it's coming from congress and not the courts.

Florida had a sur tax like this. I didn't mind paying it one bit. Neither should anyone else fortunate enough to be making that amount of money.

I guess you are right ... I could just lay someone off to cover the increase ... so net, it won't cost a dime....

So says the "employee".
More class warfare. Until everyone pays, it will never be fare.

I know, I have some funny ideas. I also believe if you're a white male with at least a high school diploma and you're not a millionaire, you're under-achieving.

Maybe if we all agree to work for $18,000 per year they could lower the cost per hour and we could help subsidize their flying.

I am sure they would help us out if our cost of living went up.

If cap-and-trade and this health care crap pass we will all be out of jobs before long. It won't matter which fractional you work for. These policies Obama is proposing will have huge negative financial effects on the type of people and companies that use us.

C'mon Mitt Romney in 2012!!!! With his business background and his ability to match Obamanation's verbal skills, he's our ONLY hope.... How about we cut taxes so that people have more money to spend on US and other goods to drive industry production again? I guess that is too difficult for Barney "the idiot" Frank and Botox Pelosi to understand... Thank God Palin, Sanford and Ensign of Nevada have screwed their careers in the GOP - now Romney has a better chance.

I know what everyone says about Mormons and their chances for national office. But hey, if an African American can get voted into office, I'd say a Mormon probably has a chance too. Especially an articulate Mormon with a Harvard MBA who built a $1 billion fortune (Bain Capital). He certainly ain't perfect, but he probably understands how the economy works far, far better than Obama and his socialist cronies. That's my $0.02.

We just had 8 years of tax cuts by a president with a Harvard MBA and look at how great things are now.

This mess started well before that. Sub prime lending began back in the Clinton days. That's the root of our current economic problems. The Bush admin. obviously didn't try to fix the problem when they could have though.

Tax cuts did not cause a housing and financial services bubble, or its collapse...

And raising taxes on the rich will not help stimulate the economy either. These are the people that take financial risks and create jobs. They will be less likely to create jobs when they are paying more in taxes. As previously stated in this thread, they will most likely lay employees off to make up for the difference.

It's really ECON 101 stuff that this administration can't seem to grasp. I guarantee you this country will be worse off economically in 3-4 years than we are now. Bookmark this thread if you don't believe me.

So many on this board were so quick to offer a "I'm sorry to hear about that" or a "good luck with everything" when one of our brothers losses his job; Yet, here's a chance for the unemployed to have some sort of health coverage for their families; and what do you say.... "No. Hell NO!" Oh, What sincerity!

How about you worry about doing your job to the best of your abilities, and let the rich people worry about how to pay you. Afterall, when those Chapter 11/Chapter13/ Furlough letters came, I didn't see one single investor/financier ask how the furloughees planed on putting food on the table for their families.

Econ 101

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before,
but had once failed an entire class.

--------------------------------------------

That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK,
we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan".

All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade so no one would fail and no one would receive an A.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.
The second test average was a D!
No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering,
blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.

All failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

Could not be any simpler than that.

Its against the Constitution for the United States to run health care. See the 10th Amendment to the Constitution which says:
"... the United States will NOT run a national health care system, or anything thing else not specifically delegated to the United States. All Powers not specifically delegated to the United States are reserved to the States, and to the People...."
The best way to have health care is to have a job so a person can afford to buy it for themselves. That's the way to get health care for the most people.

A 5.4% surtax on our customers will equal fewer jobs and more unemployed fractional pilots. Tax cuts for the rich = MORE and bigger airplanes and MORE jobs for pilots!
