They sure do call out of order on buckets. I don't even pay attention to etrip credits. I go off my APDL

Yeah me too, but they use etrip. Screws you up in the order on the buckets. I had etrip tell me that (original schedule) a leg was only worth 1:23 when the scheduled out and in times on what etrip itself showed two lines to the left of the credit was in fact worth 1:41. I get that etrip will lag on actual times by a few days, but this was scheduled times. I only noticed it when I compared it to my APDL.

News flash: Bikes don't win tours. And the Trek of today is not the Trek of Lance. You should know this, that is if you have spent more than 5 mins with a bike mechanic in the last three years. When the Trek of today irons out its frame problems, then it'll get respect from me. Until then (and probably after), I'll be happy on my ALUMINUM Fuji Roubaix, at least for my road ride.

Speaking of Fujis, they are really spec'd out well for the money. I have been very impressed. (But then again, I'm just a humble bike wrenchie, so I don't know much about your glitzy, roadie ways... and thank heaven for that! I know too much already!)

And speaking of carbon, Cervelo is FAR better than Trek. Now there's a real bike company. And speaking of Fujis and carbon, Fuji puts together a triathlon setup that I've been really impressed with--the Aloha CF1. Great bike.... but then again, if I were going to drop $3k on a tri bike, it'd be a Cervelo.

Man, what is it with all this bike snobbery? You've got guys like you who think that "bikes winning the tour" means everything, and then you've got guys who think that you are only cool if you ride a fixie and drink fruffy coffee and ride with your pant legs rolled up and wear a Campy hat and attend Critical Mass events. Geeze. What ever happened to just riding for the joy of being on two wheels? That's one thing that the BMX kids and the downhillers have figured out. Somewhere along the way we got confused. We've been thinking that the riding is about the suffering, when it's really just about enduring the suffering to get to the joy.

And speaking of suffering and Fujis, if you knew anything about cyclocross, you wouldn't be knocking Fujis. How many CX nationals and worlds has Fuji won? Well, I don't really know, but it's a lot more than Trek. But then again, bikes don't win bike races.

And since you asked (indirectly by making such ignorant comments), if I were going to be dropping $3k on a bike, it wouldn't be a Trek Madone 5.9, or a Cervelo tri bike. It would be a Mongoose Khyber Super. Since you are a roadie, I'll assume that you aren't familiar with it. It is a 6" travel downhill bike that climbs really well (I know this because I've ridden it.) You suffer through the climb (which really isn't too bad if you have done your base work on a road bike), and then you bomb. Nothing could be better. I've never had so much fun on two wheels.

And speaking of mountain bikes, have you checked out the GT Peace 9R singlespeed? That bike is such a blast!! 29" wheels BELONG on singlespeeds. I wouldn't be surprised to see me end up with one of those as well.

And speaking of singlespeeds, I've come to the opinion that a hardtail mountain bike shouldn't be anything other than a singlespeed. Radical, I know, but there's just something beautiful about them. I have a Specialized Hard Rock that I converted to singlespeed. I ended up taking off about 5 pounds with the cassette, deraileurs, etc. My road bike weighs 18 pounds, and my singlespeed weighs 20. Cool eh?

And speaking of the Tour, I LOVE the Tour. I watch every stage if I can. It's my favorite televised sporting event of the year. But somehow I don't ever find myself cheering for the bikes.

Seriously!! I had my sister Tivo Paris-Roubaix!!! I would watch all the pro cycling I could! I actually got to watch a good bit of the Tour of California. That was really cool too.

Carbon bikes suck, I promise you I will out climb you any day with my panniers loaded front and back and my steel bike.

You think Contador won the Tour de France and the Giro because of his carbon bike? HaH, not a chance.

I love my group rides with folks on Carbon this and that who have zero riding skillz, while I out climb them and then pull them on my 25lb Salsa.

I joined up a few years ago but didn't renew because every ride (including the recovery ones) seemed to turn into a race and it wasn't worth it for me to fight Connector traffic just for the honor of being the Lanterne Rouge of the group. And just for the record, I am one of those carbon bike/no skillz riders you refer to.

I must say this is turning into quite a nice thread hijack!

I can ride with just about anyone who enjoys cycling in all forms.

I had heard about the LFP club rides not being to fun, I road ride mostly in Peachtree city/Fayette, but also in Senoia we have some great routes with very little traffic

I'm not a roadie, but love riding in the dirt! I'm just getting back on the bike after a 3 year hiatus and have set completing 5 races as a goal for next year.

I live up in Gainesville...pretty close to Unicoi. Give me a shout if you want to go ride sometime!

SkyWest MTBer, roader (not "ie"), and downhiller newbie here (I just bought my first set of body armor). Have been known to dabble in BMX, singlespeed, CX, and triathlons (hence the term, "aquatically challenged") as well. Good times. Maybe it should be a SkyWest, Inc. Cycling club. Heaven knows there's plenty of guys that ride over here. We had this common thread all along and didn't even know it!!

I did Whistler last July.

I'm a MTB/BMXer first but lately I've only ridden the road bikes to cut down on the gas since it takes 45 min any direction to ride true singletrack.

I can't stand riding on the road. It bores me. I might as well be on a stationary bike at the gym.

Guess it's just an attitude thing, I was brought up on off-road bikes and nothing compares to singletrack, jumps, berms and the like.

Tell you what! Any of you Skywest rocky mountain region guys want to get together for an 'exchange'...you host us ASA east coasters for a 3-5 day mtn. bike
adventure and we'll reciprocate.

There's some GOOD Smoky Mountain singletrack with an hour or 2 of ATL! Our mountains have the advantage of being down in the atmosphere where there's air to breathe

Those trails rank up there with anything on the west coast.

I ride dauset 9 out of 10 times for convienance and solitude. 17 miles of pure bliss.

I live about 1/2 way between Chicopee and Unicoi.

Chicopee is great, but a little 'groomed'.

I haven't done a lot of the great rides nearby. Tsali, Dauset, Racoon Mtn.

I am going to Chilhowee (TN) 4th of July and plan to ride Tanasi and Brush Mtn.

Let me know when we can get together and conquer some of this stuff!
