How to get an interview...

Thank goodness for those newhires that get stuck with it, right?
Many new hires have bypassed Bus classes to wait for a 190 class. You get a 2 yr quip freeze (no seat freeze) so the money for a new hire equals the same (give or take a few grand either way) over the first 2 years. First year pay (both straight pay and adjusted for premium pay) for the 190 is significantly higher than many so called "major" jobs.
Yes its true that fast uprades in the 190 aren't going to last forever. Its also true that the plane won't be a Yo-Yo forever and keep coming back to the gate. NWA is fighting for their lives just to maybe be able to fly that plane with their pilots. USAir barely won the right to do it (for now) and their pay is pretty close to ours. Delta doesn't have a rate for it yet (don't bring up the 73 classic rate, as you know that doesn't apply) but they do allow CHQ to fly lots of the 80 seat version (config for 70 but so what) as well as SKYW and Mesa for other airlines.
The mainlines therefore signed off on the rates for the new generation 70/80/90 something seat jets that are flying today. Years 1-12 adjusted for an 85 hour credit line value i.e. pay (conservative) puts JB's 190 rate 12% higher than CHQ E-190 CA's and 55% higher than FO's. (They don't have the 190 on property, yet, but that's the rate for it). Compared to Mesa's 90 seat rate we pay 24% higher than CA's and 55% higher than FO's. Compared to SKYW's 99 seat and under CL-65 rate we pay 30% higher for CA's and 76% higher than FO's. Compared to Comair's new 80 seat rate (which you know won't be much different than any future 100 seat rate if and when Delta pilots crack on scope) we are 30% higher for CA's and 46% higher than FO's. These are all rates mainline pilots have directly allowed the marketplace to become flooded with. Now they are fighting for their lives to keep or get some of this flying back on their list.
So what should our rates have been for the first year of operations for the A/C? Should we have gotten emotional, or better yet, righteously indignant, because it has 100 seats instead of 80 or 90 something, and paid twice as much? How much hourly pay would you sacrifice to get all the flying on one list were you are?
As for the sour grapes interview guy, sorry you never got called, but you didn't want the job anyway, never believed in the company, didn't really want to be here, but yet somehow felt you were owed the opportunity? It that a fair assumption?
While you of course have to update (as with any online app out there) I know of plenty of people who got called after having their app in for a short period of time, and plenty who had it in for years, updating constantly. Although you feel the hiring folks should have been wowed by your competitive quals and given you the job you were entitled to just so you could turn it down or perhaps ride out a furlough for a little while, is too bad.
Good luck at your present carrier. You rode out the tough times and now perhaps brighter days are ahead for you. We, on the other hand, lost 5 mil a quarter last year so therefore the sky is falling and this place won't be around very much longer. Especially since we just started paying for our first airplanes. (I mean how generous of Airbus was it to give us $5 billion worth of A/C for nothing!) Rumor has it we are on the verge of getting the same deal with OPEC. 5 bil worth of oil for free for the next 5 years. After that we're in trouble, but hey, that's what our business plan is based on.
By the way we don't have to pay for the 190's at all. EMB knew if they gave us 100 for free, it was like free advertisement. They will just add a few million to the rest they sell to other airlines and outsource providers as they scramble to get them too.
