The OFFICIAL list: I'll agree to honor the SWA/AAI SLI when it's all done.

Who is willing to go on record saying he/she will respect the final SLI list regardless if it is negotiated or arbitrated? You are pledging to move forward with your new co-workers in a positive manner!

I will

carl,

That is great and it is important to keep an upbeat cooperative and positive attitude throughout this process. Certainly you acknowledge that "accepting" an SLI will be easier for some than others.

I don't know if a non arbitrated SLI is possible, but I see great value in such an outcome. An arbitrated solution isn't "wrong", but a negotiated solution would be amazing. Even pilots who disagreed with the specifics of such a list would have much greater ownership. - at least it was decided by pilots and not some lawyer/academic with no skin in the game.

I can tell you that if both teams make a real concerted effort towards a negotiated solution it will be a lot easier to be a peace with the SLI, even if it is arbitrated. Circumventing negotiations and going straight to arbitration will feel like a big "FU". It would be a lousy way to begin a working relationship.

Fortunately, my union is telling me that the initial steps are positive.

Even if I vote against a proposed SLI, i will not just accept it - I will embrace it. An arbitrated one ...

I'll do my best.

;)

Agreed, both sides need to try and work together. Arbitration is a last resort, the purpose of this thread is for those who are willing to respect the process and move forward when it's all done. We must not let this become another Airways.

This isn't fair for the rest of us that have been entertained countless hours by the East/West Mess.

I suggest you reconsider your sane positions.

There may be disappointment for some but I have lived with it before. Age 65 is a classic example. As my wife tells the kids often, "Get what ya get and don't pitch a fit!" Thanks Carl and Ivuair for being realistic and positive.

Carl, the southwest pilots and Swapa control the merger- period. Either DOH or a ratio based on earnings, these are thre fairest ways to integrate. You were thrown a lifeline to pull yourself out of the regional quagmire of an airline you were eternally tied to. Good luck!

Hold the phone.
I've read your posts. Aren't you a US Airways pilot? How can you tell someone else how to merge based on earnings when you guys are the lowest paid, and are trying to force a DOH down your counter parts throats?
Nobody was thrown a lifeline at Air Tran, they were a growing, thriving company taking aircraft deliveries.
Us Airways was days away from liquidation.
Apples to oranges pal, sorry to burst your DOH bubble!
Take it to the regionals, and try to impress them.

Hopefully our unions can negotiate the SLI but whether it's negotiated or arbitrated, I'll live with the outcome. I can't see any other way to avoid the USAirways debacle and keep SWA's great culture intact.
