About 300 reps and volunteers don't fit into the Herndon office. Despite what you must have imagined, the Herndon office is far from exquisite. It's a very modest office building with a few conference rooms. You could barely hold 2 or 3 MEC meetings there concurrently, let alone an entire BOD meeting.

Since the Duke/Spellacy lawsuit....ALPA had to sell the D.C. building to comply with the damages from that suit.

There will be an entire chapter in "Flying the Line, Vol.3" dedicated to the current dues paying ALPA member in good standing being thrown under the bus by his MEC chairman.

Who knows what ALPA will have to sell if that one goes to court

Well it is certianly easier to hate than to think objectively and constructively criticize....

And let's address this...

Housing allowance average for each of the four National Officers = $9,856/month/officer or $118,275 each per year.

Let's take Bill C., VP Admin.. as an Eagle pilot, he probably makes about 110K... just a guess.. I could be a few thousand off...

If it cost 118k to live in Washington DC, in a decent area, and all the living expenses that go with it...

Should Bill C. reimburse the ALPA membership 8K to volunteer?


Anyone?


By the way.... those Officers have to pay IRS tax on that $118,275/year.... and the regular salary too...

You have no idea what reperations are or what they were for!! It was out of line plain and simple and no matter how you try to clean it up you simply can not!!

I would leave it alone now if I were you. BTW do some research into what was promised and then get back to me. My great great grandparents died never getting their 40 acres and a mule!!!

My parents, not my great grand parents came over to the states with pretty much just the shirts on their backs. My Father did really well for himself going to night school, learning the language and working hard. Basically just having some drive and ambition he is now comfortably retired..... Did he whine about hand outs or ask for 40 acres and a mule? No! Work for you what you want, but don't tell a fellow employee that you saved his job when you are "JUST" the rank and file yourself! THAT WAS MY POINT, NOTHING MORE ,NOTHING LESS! It had absolutely nothing to do with the color of ones skin so get the f*& over it already.

As I've told you before, the Duke/Spellacy settlement had nothing to do with the selling of the downtown office. That office would have been sold anyway to trim cost. As part of the sale, the conditions required that the building always be named the "ALPA Building" and that ALPA maintain their floor's office space. But if you'd ever been there, you'd know that that building combined with the Herndon office still wouldn't even be enough space to come close to holding a BOD meeting.
