My first gig in the airline industry was working the ramp and counter for a COMMUTER (Conquest Airlines) on the Metro and I have the hearing loss to prove it. I still get weepy thinking about how many times I stared death in the face having to unplug the GPU from the cowling on #2 after it was running. We used to say working for a commuter was like your parents going out of town for the weekend and saying "O.K. kids, run the airline while we're gone!" Some of the most fun I've had in my 15 years in this industry.

My first airliner, though it's now living life in charter.

Then it was on to the jet airliner, sad to never get to see one or hear that unique sound when one flew overhead as it was selecting flaps 18.

then onto the Saab and CR9 (not worth putting up a picture). Maybe someday I will get to fly an airliner actually built in the USA.

Here's my list...

An Airnet C-310, although I flew it in the early '90s when it was still U.S. Check with a crappy blue paint job and a mis-matched tan horizontal stab. That was me, bird strike going into DSM...

Oh man, what a small world! I flew N37223 from 08/05 until 05/06 at Airnet out of BHM and down through Florida. That bird was the best plane ever. It took beatings through weather that I didn't think it ever would. No autopilot, no radar, no problem. No one ever wanted it because it wasn't as fast as some of the other 310s, but I loved this plane. She was lucky for me. I wish I could buy her to tell you the truth. Nice to see that someone else enjoyed her too!
