Ok. We had that thread about our most embarrasing moments and our worst moments in aviation, I thought it be high time we had one about our best moments. I remember one trip i went on right after i got my Commercial Multi certificate, the owner of a new Meridian let me fly left seat on the first leg, which i thought was very cool. On the return trip though is what was really cool, he let me fly back with him in the back asleep.

I can't limit my good moments to just one...

Flying at Piper Super cub on floats at the Colorado River while my friends rode my jetski nearby

Flying a C180 on floats at Oshkosh Airventure

Landing on the green dot at Oshkosh in a C310, then taxiing in the grass

Flying the Goodyear blimp (flying, not a passenger) over my house

My first landing at Catalina Island

My first solo

My first day as a captain in the Saab, three days after 9/11

My first flight in the 737 from Honolulu to Lihue, empty, to do pattern work at Lihue

And just about every flight has something really great about it.

One thing I enjoy most about being a pilot is witnessing the beauty of a sunrise and sunset while flying.

One of the most vivid sunsets I've ever seen was during a flight in a King Air 90. We took off out of this airport with low dark ceilings, and immediately hit the clouds. As we began leveling off at 8,000 feet, we broke out of the clouds to a clear sky, with the sun begining to set on the horizon. The color of the sunset had the entire overcast layer colored the most beautiful pink color I've ever seen. Like a huge pink sea we were sailing across. We skimmed across the tops of the pink overcast layer for a good 10 minutes before the sun finally went down and night fell upon us.

An experience I'll probably always remember.

English said it - can't just limit it to one moment

In no particular order:

My first solo

Taking the controls of the EAA Ford Tri-motor and flying a piece of history for a few moments

First flight as an airline pilot

The first student pilot that I soloed

The first time I took my Dad for a plane ride

The day I flew a WWII US Navy veteran to Montpelier, VT to go to his reunion of the surviving crew of the USS Montpelier. It's too long of a story to tell here and you kinda had to be there to fully appreciate it, but it was very moving for everyone that day. I was glad beyond words to be part of that day for just one person.
