Not me.... I agree with you. There was a time when JC "got it", then he became a politician... much like most people who stay involved with ALPA...

There is a difference between a leader and a politician...

Wow... a politican in ALPA...hey Joe...ALPA is a political organization...

That is like saying I liked the Pope...you know before he became too Catholic...

Once again in order to be effective on CapHill you've got to get political. Nobody will give the airline pilots anything because they like Joe Merchant. You've got to help others get what they want... sorry its the way it is... and that is not ALPA's fault..that is the fonding fathers fault for creating a democratic republic...

SO whenever an ALPA guy gets effective he get blamed for being to political...

There should be a time frame where our MEC has to be cycled though every 2-3 years. Do your time, get out. More guys would probably be active within the union. Knowing that years after year, some guy like Andy Hughes and JC is sitting in office, doing nothing but collect a fat check, make bad decisions for the group, and golf outings with management.

I have heard CP's get slammed for being "company" guys, but it seems like our MEC is closer with management, than the CP's are.

Then why don't you pass a resolution at your property for term limits. Other MECs have...

No Joe.... These aren't wonder drugs... the are small efforts to help hold the line... MAYBE move the ball a few yards down the line.

Oh and one more thing that helps ... pilots who don't sue the very organization... I talked to the ASA MEC Chair the other day....

It's too late for "small efforts to help hold the line". Was the Compass agreement part of these "small efforts"?

The lawsuits are a result of ALPA's failure. Did the ASA MEC Chair also tell you that he and his predecessor and JC were all "closet" supporters of RJDC? ALPA needs to deal with it's conflict of interest and it's failure to stop whipsaw within a brand. No more excuses, and no more "small steps".

Have you ever seen the RBS commercials? Less talk.. more action...

Funny you should bring up the Catholic analogy.... let's go with that one....

Do you know where the term "red tape" comes from? It comes from the Vatican. Documents and proposals in the Vatican were sealed with "red" tape, and had to go through many layers of bureaucracy. Very hard to make changes and that is where the term comes from. Now fast forward to a certain "problem" the Catholic Church has had in terms of certain improprieties with certain members of it's clergy. Guess what finally got the ball rolling on putting a stop to what was going on.... It was lawsuits! Sometimes it takes a little legal persuasion to get the ball rolling in a large organization... Otherwise the problems tend to get buried in "red tape"....

In many cases, those bring the legal challenge aren't against the institution, they are just tired of serious problems getting bogged down in the "red tape"...

Joe... you are so smart...the problem is we are too dumb to know it.... can you show the support funds from JC and the current MEC? I'd like to see those checks...

What is your plan to keep the foundation of representation when you win your lawsuit?

It's true that JC was a supporter at one time, but Newie? Sorry, I don't believe that one.
