Our flight training is not going as fast as he likes so he's going to FL to get his private pilot in 30 days.

Blessing in disguise!

Out of curiosity, how did it go? Any bad experiences?

In the beggining what made me most apprehensive was his overconfidence, from "knowing" how to fly because of his expirience in the right seat turbo props. Once I was able to convince him that his expectations were unrealistic, that safe + proffesional piloting comes from hand on expirience and not spectating.. things became significantly easier.

You should ask him if he will teach you the in's and out's of his business.
