Our tax system sucks rocks!
1st Choice: NO federal income tax. Federal Sales or Value Added Tax instead. This would mean ALL the criminals with criminal income would finally pay federal tax when they bought all their stuff with their ill-gotten monies. Rich people who legally or illegally pay 0 or very little tax would now pay. If you saved your money, you would pay nothing. No sales tax on medicine, clothes, food.
2nd Choice: Leave the tax brackets where they are, and tax ALL income with NO deductions.
3rd Choice: Have a flat tax (which means the same tax rate for everyone's income), where they tax ALL income with NO deductions.
In a number of Eastern European countries, they have gone to a Flat Tax with excellent results. One of them, Romania, I think, actually lowered their Flat Tax rate after the 1st year, because they brought in way more revenue than they projected the first year.
