Tattooed flight attendants

Agree. Unless you're a professional seagoing type, I see tattoos and think . . . jerkoff seeking attention, criminal, or druggie.

Tattoos on women are just wrong. They're scream "cheap", "easy", "hick", and "dumb." I were dating again, I wouldn't give a woman with a tattoo a second look. Completely and totally UN-classy.

I think this is an age old debate of conservative vs. liberal lifestyles/views. I have a tattoo on each ankle, that I covered with uniform pants when I was on duty as an F/A. I'm not cheap, easy, hick, or dumb, and rather resent the implication...they both have a special and personal meaning to me and they are simply an expression of my personality. Again, its just a matter of personal taste and if its offensive or against company policy to have them visible then simply wear a uniform that covers them up while you're on duty. The airline that I was working for had it stated in thier company policy that if you had tatts, you had to cover them while on duty. Simple.

I dont think its up for much debate. If you have one or more, hide them like, yourself. If you choose not to hide them, then I think we would have to put these folks in the WT catagory.

Here is a nice suggestion GV, If the cabin attendant is a valuable employee with solid work history on other corporate jets, then perhaps suggest a band-aid over the tattoo and maybe a darker shade of hose. This way it looks more like a cut healing.

In the airline world, you can be and ARE asked if you have any tattoos that would be visible while in uniform. At AMR, if the answer is yes, you are not hired. If you agree to have them removed, not just promise to cover them, you are made a contingent offer but must prove they've been removed before you finish new-hire class.

If they are not visible while in uniform, you do not have to say anything to anyone about them.


Personally, I think they look cheap and unclassy.

wow...that's pretty harsh. my rule of thumb when i got mine was not to get anything that i would be embarrassed to have when i got older. the two that i have are relatively small (2") and both have special meaning. one of them is a heart with wings that i got in memory of my late husband. not all tattooes are tramp stamps. some women that get them may be tramps, but don't lump us all together just because of a tattoo.

you know MEN get tatoo's too! in the service! women are not tramps because of tatoos! I don't have one, I don't even have my ears pierced for earings.Some of us are good people, by boyfriend is a Harley Hog, does that make him wrong?

some people are " Born to be Wild" Smart people enjoy wild times, don't worry about tatoo's if I have to find it on the internet I will. But most Miliatary guys/gals have a tatoo, it is matter of reflection, the name of your man or girl!

I went to the beach the other day with my husband. We saw a beautiful couple with 3 small kids playing around. She was such a beautiful woman and he was so attractive too. They were very attentive to their kids, shelling, body surfing, burying each other in the sand.....but then the parents turned around and both had tatoos all over their backs. Sad to say but we were both shocked and mentioned it to each other. We couldn't believe it. Here is what we said: "I don't get it!" So help me here cuz "I don't get it". What's the reason to do this?

It's more a sign of the times than anything else. I read a statistic that somewhere around 40% of all under 30 folks have at least one. I'm a conservative, professional, military pilot with one tattoo, so is my brother. My wife has two, including the "tramp stamp," and she's the most beautiful, classiest, intelligent woman I know. I'm actively working on getting my second. To put it into perspective, it's kind of like the stigma men with earrings had back in the 80's and early 90's. Now, you hardly look twice at dudes with earrings. 20 years from now, when 50% or more of 50 year olds have tats, it will be a non-issue.
