From the rumor mill, I am not sure if this was said already but heard of 2 classes in OCT. I overheard it from the lounge when listening about the training center and stuff that was going on there. It was from a checkairman that just came back from DAL ...so take it for that.

Am in New-Hire training right now and we have not heard about a second October class. I really hope that it is true, I will ask the PD on the way to lunch today... The more classes the better. Best of luck, klr

Spoke w/ PD today and she said that there are 48 poolies between me (started swimming 5/27) and those who entered the pool on 5/15 ! ! ! She said with 20-24 studs per class, you do the math! Congrats CubsFan......

Guys and gals... I agreed with GFUNK20, we need to get as much information on this thread as possible, need to know the "cutoff" for 10/03? I am in the 06/10 date. I have been calling every month and I think the HR Department is doing their best to keep us informed, but I think we (Pilots in the Pool) are doing a pretty good job ourselves. It is getting frustrating when each time I called I am told I am 5 to 6 classes away... I am thinking how can I be 5 to 6 classes away when it has been almost six months since I got the call and 4 months since my pool date, with the small classes that is going through... I should be moving!? Please everyone, lets pull together and provide any information that can give all of us a better picture of our possible class date. Cheers

When I got my call, I found out that 3 people from the 5/16 interview made it to this class. I know it can be frustrating, but keep in mind you're holding a winning lottery ticket. Don't sweat when you're going to cash it unless you've already quit your job. FWIW, I would bet 6/10 pool date gets 3 classes after the Oct class. PD doesn't even know when that will be.

Keep in mind, I'll be at the bottom of seniority barrel with nobody to take my place there for several months! Small price to pay though . .

Yes, you are going to be on reserve for a while, but at least you're going to making some money and won't be on unemployment for 3 months like me.

Don't sweat it!!! It will all work out in the end. Just remember that they want to match up sim partners MIL/CIV and the balance isn't always the same from one interview date to the next. There were guys in the class ahead of me that interviewed the same day and a couple that interviewed after me. Nevertheless, it took 3 months from the call to class when they were having classes everyother week..Hang in there and work on getting your tolerance up for training.....

Just added scottyp. Interview 5/21. Spoke to PD late Aug & they said I am 3 classes away, not including 2 in Sept. Good luck to all......They said pool was 300-350.
 
I just got a call from someone at the PD yesterday. I interviewed 6/26 with the type and was told the following:

My pool date is 6/26. A class started on Monday, classes scheduled for 9/19 and 10/3, no more planned until Jan. Unofficial guess for my training date was 8-9 classes after they start back up. At 2 classes per month it looks like April/May unless things change.

Hopefully this isn't 100% redundant (i was too lazy to read all 16 pages) but it is the latest info.
 
Thanks for all your support, I know the guys and gals in the "pool" appreciated. Keep the information coming...!!!! Anyone reading this thread knowing you are in the pool but did not list yourself, put yourself on the list. Good day to you all.

Spoke to Sandy in the PD yesterday. She said that I was probably three classes away. My pool date is 5/18. That must mean there are alot of people that aren't on our list. She said that between me and 5/15 there were about 50-60.

She also said that as of now there are no more classes planned for this year. Of course she was sure to emphasize that this is always subject to change.

While I'm anxious to start...I guess it wouldn't be bad to enjoy one more Christmas/New Year off before I head to the bottom of my new and improved seniority list...L0L

Its funny how most of us have waited our entire careers for this, and now that its here, a few months seems like an eternity... another christmas at home with my family will be great!!! Keep swimmin yall! Just remember what your swimming in now is better than what you have been swimming in!!!

Hey swimmers! I just added myself with a 6/10 pool date. Hang in there everyone!
 
Just heard a rumor from a friend who heard it from his friend (so please take that for what it's worth). His friend just started training at SWA and heard that classes aren't going to start up again (after the 10/3 class) until June 2008. Please tell me that this is just a horribly wrong rumor. Has anyone heard anything close to this? I was always under the impression that classes were planned to start up again in Jan 2008.
 
I think it is interviews wont start until then. We are still taking airplanes next year so I think classes will continue. However, if we buy or merge with someone then who knows.

For what it's worth from someone in training (me) who has recently spoke to director of New Hire Training, the only definite is that there are no other plans for classes after Oct 3rd for this year. I have not specifically heard that there won't be any until next June but that could be a possibility. I am of the belief like Vixin though that the June comment is in reference to interviews. The PD just relays what the training dept decides, and the true info in this regard is a well kept secret until about 30 days down to 21 days prior to a class. I know its hard but try not to get spun up about what at this point is just s rumor. Cheers, klr
