Has anyone had their recs called from Oct interviews?

Friend of mine interviewed on Oct 6. I was a rec for him but have not been called. Don't think that's a good sign.

They started calling mine pretty quick after the interview. They only called about half of them though. Basically only the ones I had flown with. I have heard that just because they don't call them doesn't mean you won't get the job.

We rarely have classes in the latter part of the year to start with..... and...... with a 6% reduction in our flight schedule coming in January I'd say you'll be lucky to be in class by July.

Now then. That being said if gas stays cheap and the bookings look up I'd suspect we'd hire 500 next year.

As of Monday, hiring looks slim to none for 8-12 months. Looks like we will be overstaffed for the first quarter. This is all subject to change pending fuel prices, economy, and how many return from military leave.

Boy if I said this, you guys would poo yourselves. BTW, I'm hearing that due to being overstaffed thsi winter, that there probably won't be a newhire class until Oct '09 at the earliest.

I wish, but i think not! I would say no hiring in '09. I hope I am wrong.

I think speculation is useless at this point...we are overstaffed for now, so I would not expect classes until March unless something happens and just about anything could happen at this point. Yields were up huge...maybe we add flights based on that and maybe we ride this instability out and see how the recession plays out...who knows for now

Question for SW reservists: If you get deployed during your probation year, does that delay your probation period? Thanks.

Probation gets extended day for day for military longer than 29 days...still get 2nd year pay at one year point though. Probation is no biggie, but it's still probation

Did your friend defer a class? The old pool including some lucky individuals who interviewed in July was completely drained as of 17 Sep. All those in the new pool interviewed after July.

I wish, there are a few of us who interviewed in July and did not get into the last class in Sept, close to 30 of us actually. Welcome to the pool for all the new folks, not a bad place to be.

Thats not right....he had to have passed on a class....I have a buddy on property now that interviewed July 6. This right here is the perfect example of why you should never under any circumstances skip an opportunity to go to class.

Wait and see boys and girls....they said not much hiring in 08' and look what happened.

Why do you say this is incorrect? I was in the 10 Sep class and the 17 Sep class had guys who interviewed in Jul 08. So unless your friend was offered a class date and he deferred, he should have been on property by now.

On another topic, anybody heard about a Dec class? Heard a rumor of both Dec/Jan classes.

Said individual could have held off class due to military requirements.

A couple of July guys made it into the last class. Lots of July guys left in the pool.

Email went out a couple of days ago from LL saying no classes expected until end of next year. Of course, PD always goes extreme conservative for what info they have since they have us breathing down their necks every other hour for the latest, and we know there is someone out there that will say "You told me there would be a class on such and such date and that I would be in it". Classes will occur when they occur. Compared to what I have seen out there, I am willing to wait and believe it when I am sitting in the seat getting my company ID picture taken.

Maybe he didn't have the type when he interviewed and didn't get placed into the pool right away. Not everybody who interviewed and got hired in July was thrown into the pool right away.
