I've contributed $5,100 to SWA's $4,800. I will max out on my side because I increase my percentage during the summer months. SWA should match somewhere around $14,400 this year.

I should gross about $155,000 this year plus and additional $5,000 in per diem.

I live in domicile which helps on picking up last minute trips in open time, but I'm also in the bottom 10% of my domicile. If I moved to a more junior base I could easily make more money.
Thanks for the answers, everyone, I appreciate it. The reason I ask is...

Also, how easy is it to just drop trips and not pick anything up in exchange? Can you go below min guarantee. With a commute to oak and going from 20 days off a month - to reserve, I'm not looking forward to the extra 60 days (90 days if you include commuting), I have to be gone from my family. Going to be hard to adjust. I think I would rather lose pay then my family....sure hope you can drop below min!
^^^ this ^^^^

Although I don't think I'll be stuck commuting to OAK for any length of time, this 7 year F/O will be bidding amongst the 4.5 year SWA pilots, putting me just barely holding a line in MCO/BWI or solid line holding in LAS. With that, many of us would rather have the 18-19 days off we get now than have the extra money and only get 14-15 days off on paper, 10-11 actually "off" at home with our families and not commuting. (although I understand reserves can't drop days)... :(

Was told that was do-able for line holders most months and it sounded for a minute like my longevity might not be able to hold that... thanks for clarifying. :)

I didn't think your guarantee was 95 hours? Thought it was 87-89 depending on days in the month? n!

The 95tfp (not hours) just balances out the paycheck. Many line are built to less than 95tfp, but we are a group that like to pick up flying. Tha average pilot here gets 107 tfp/mo.

The June vacancy just came out with the Airtran transition guys from the first class.

3 BWI
4 DAL
5 HOU
2 LAS
6 MCO
2 PHX
2 MDW

Huron. Thank you.

Lear. You can put your whole reserve block in give away. Most likely it won't get taken. However (ie) if you get a two day trip on a four day block. You can put the remaining two days in give away. Much larger chance of getting taken by local pilot.

Good to know, thanks.

All-in-all, it sounds like you guys have a good system, just trying to learn a little in advance. :)

No commute to OAK.
The first group of FAT guys:

Brother you guys don't even know how good. You will be alright when you get here plus retirements.

5th Pay is 47.5--it is not related to guarantee. 87-89 is guarantee but is rarely a factor.
Very difficult to drop trips--you've got to have something good for somone else to take from you. Can't drop into a pool.
Yes, you can drop below min but not likely--same as above.

Why do you think you'll be in OAK? If you're bottom rung CA, then be a top FO. If you're an pre-announcement FO, the combined list has hundreds of SWA peeps below you. Don't know why everyone thinks they will be displaced to OAK? You do know that 90+% of the OAK base actually wants to be here, right?
Well maybe not Oak but you have to realize with 6 years at aai - I was stapled so when you factor in all the guys junior to me on the 717 - I will be in the bottom 3% system wide on the 737.

The key is; all the 717 FOs are very junior to most and will not be a factor when considering your "equipment" seniority when it comes to schedules bases etc. I may have 10% of the company below me system wide but on the 737 I am tail end charlie. I'm happy to be coming though, just for the record, but man I wish you could drop trip back to the company oh and also leave the flight deck with the APU or ground power on-whats up with that.

You can try and give away your whole line if you wanted. It won't work, but you might get someone to take a trip or two.

You can leave the flight deck with power on, but the accepted farthest distance you can be away from the plane is down doing the walk around or in the jet way. Why? Just fly it like a -200 and don't ask questions.

Its more dramatic that way. They speak of being dry boned and molested and integrity. You can actually see the black could above their head when they walk around. And that was before the merger announcement. There is not a thread on the internal web forum that has not been turned into a we have been raped, SWA has not integrity, blah blah blah. Something as normal as a question about an overnight quickly degrades.

There are only two posts on this thread that are negative (now three). Both are yours; a person that thinks bagging on his own pilot group will somehow ingratiate themself with SWA pilots. They know that you'll do it to anybody, including them.

Go back and review your whining during the furlough. You complained that the pilot group wouldnt stick up for themselves ..... Now you're selling your arse to anyone that will listen, for anything you can get. Ironic.
