It usually takes about a week after your interview. Some have been hired recently without rec's called.

What does is really mean to have them called?

Please tell me there will be more phone calls! I don't want to believe that I did not get hired until I receive the letter. Is there any hope? We must stay strong. Congrats to all!

Getting your references checked usually means that one or more of either your written LOR's, online rec's from SWA Employee's or current and past employers are contacted. It could be just one, a combination of them all, all of them or none. Just depends. Nobody knows the secret on how they decide whom to call or if to call.

What is up with the LETTERS. Has anyone received anything yet. Heck I am in IAH - Not very far from DAL - So you figure the letters wouldn't take but a day or two in the mail. DB+day 10

Someone please post when you got the letter and the date on it.

I live in IAH too but it seemed like I was the last to get my "thanks but no thanks" letter. Best of luck.

thought you all might like to hear the news that I got from Dallas today.

No, I didn't get "THE CALL" but I got a call from a friend of mine that is at Higher Power getting his type. He is is on week 2 of his training and started the sim yesterday. He said that SWA showed up today to talk to everybody. After they were finished with their talk they asked if anybody had any questions so he asked the question that everybody has been wanting to ask. He told them that he had interviewed on 9/11/06 and new that people had gotten their calls but nobody had gotten a letter yet. He then asked them if they were done making calls and sending letters for this review board. She (I'm not sure who it was from the people department) then told him that they were not done with either. They have been interviewing so much that they are having trouble keeping up with everything. He said that from what she told him they were also finished filling the classes for the year and were working on the pool for next year. I guess our groups of 24 a day were almost too much for them, they are now only having at the most 18 a day.

They also said that they had far exceeded the amount of hiring that they had planned this year. They were supposed to only hire 350 and instead hired around 570. Next year they are supposed to have 550 and will probably have more. It will continue like that for the next few years and then possibly increase when all the retirements start to kick in.

All of that said, I guess we all still have a chance. Good luck to everybody!

got it straight from a c/p that was at the d/b: all calls went out before the weekend. sucks for me. they hired 60 of 160 that they reviewed. (whatever that means cause i thought they interviewed about 240 pilots in sept) does anyone know what the date is that starts the 12 month wait?

Well I dont know about that. I know for a fact there were two weeks alone they interviewed 24 a day (8 days = 192 pilots) and then there were probably other interview days as well........way more than 160 were interviewed.......it aint over till you get your letter!

To all that are out there like me somewhere in the post, had your recs called, and which DB you are in , as well as are the phone calls done phase at SWA?. It is not over yet!!!! They told me 4-6 weeks and that was just two days ago to start week 4. There is hope for us all and we must want LUV as bad now as we did when we applied. It's all in there hands. I have learned to be patient.


Any more information like the previous posts from those that are waiting and some that have gotten the call....... Thank you for your support and time as you gather info us as well. Keep it coming and I will post whatever INTEL I can find out as well.

I appreciate any info like others that have posted as to what is going on with the Oct DB. Maybe some calls tomm. Since there are no interviews on Friday usually. GOOD LUCK! Happy to hear any news!

Look to all of you driving yourself crazy. The October DB is over and all calls have been made. The earlier post talking about the P.D. department stating that they still have calls to make-well it just isn't true. As I stated in prior posts last week, it was confirmed to me by a good friend and Asst Chief for SWA that he knew that all calls were made prior to last weekend. As far as the numbers put up here earlier 60 hired out of 160, well nobody knows who goes to the D.B.? Yeah I know they say everyone goes, but I highly doubt it.
The SWA P.D. has just way too much on its plate right now to accomodate everyone interviewed. People have asked about references called on this board, well it seems to be an early indication by the interview team that they agree the person should be recommended to the D.B. No refs called seems to be well a "No-Go". Even if the refs are called and you make the cut-no guarantees. If we all knew the formula we could either now be employed by SWA or become very rich in selling " SWA Guaranteed Interview Prep ".
