Feelin' the Luv

Proud to report that I got the call early this a.m. Weird feeling. Like a ten ton load of anxiety was just lifted from my shoulders. Went from stress monkey to elation to sheer numbness. Still can't believe it's true.

Thank God, cuz now I can talk to my friends & family again (I was sure getting tired of explaining....)

Buddy from my interview group (9/13) called me at 0930 east coast time to say that he had just gotten the call. I got the call an hour later at 0828 my time (Mountain - 1028 East coast).

My call came from the Baltimore assistant chief pilot (who's name I'll never forget, but out of courtesy won't post here). He mentioned that he got assigned a group of names from H-L (I believe....my mind was in a daze as he spoke....). He also mentioned that they divvied up the task and delegated it down to ACP's...which, I take it, is abnormal.

Also, judging by the #'s....they're hiring MORE pilots than was predicted when I interviewed (SW rep said they'd hire 4 or 5 of us...but EIGHT of us have gotten the call (so far)....and there are still one or two who KNOW they had refs called who haven't gotten "the call" yet....(meaning: I think they're about to get the call). (Thank you, Senators for voting to rid is of the Wright...)

So....to those of you still enduring the agony of the indomitable wait.....I offer this comment:

It's non-linear, it's unpredictable.....it's all voodoo

Yes I did, it was written 9/18 and sent out 9/22 but I didn't get it in the mail until 9/28. It seems if you don't catch it on the first wave that the letter is on the way. Don't give up hope until you see the letter, but prepare yourself. When and if you get it just take a long walk, then start preparing for next year. In the meantime if you get a call-great.

from what ive been reading on these posts (as i sit and chew my nails to my wrists) combined with emails from my sep21 group; assis. chief pilots have been making calls. oak got last names a and b; phx got c to f; chicago got g plus a few; bwi got up to l; hou got m to o; dal got p plus ?. never heard of anybody after p getting called. (remember, all this is speculation on my part) i am m so i think im sunk. but, they might not be done calling, so im not giving up till tues. ( its my second shot at this; i have a type;i had all refs called; and 2 chief pilots went to the d/b on my behalf) keep the faith, u dont know till the letter comes.

Seems like the calls have stopped?

Pretty quiet on the calls now. I do know of at least three people called from "S" thru "W". Oh well wait it out and try again next year. SWA is well worth the wait. All good things come to those that are patient, so they say.

Confirmed Calls Are Done

I spoke with a friend who is a base asst. chief pilot tonight, he said the calling is over for the board except for those that may not have been able to be contacted. The percentage is roughly 25% of those interviewed hired, as presented to the board.

How can it take every other board a week or more to make calls and this one only took four days?

I Hope Your Right But I Doubt It

My connection at SWA is a Base Asst. C.P., he told me that the calls were delegated and called, I have to go with what he said. Believe me I'm not happy either I had a base Asst. C.P. on my side-no joy. Who knows what they look for in the interview. I can assure you the calls are done.

The Sept DB all calls were done by Diane Empting, that's alot of calls for 1 person. Seems like this time they split them up.

As I stated earlier the calls are done and we all have to regroup for the next round in 11 months. It was a good experience with not exactly the outcome we all wanted. Chaulk it up to just that and hope for the best in round two.

How long after the interviews did all your recs get called? Also did anyone get hired without recs called?
